Code of Conduct
Dear Longmont Estates students and families,
Thank you for your partnership and supporting the academic growth, safety, and well-being of our students. Every year, St. Vrain Valley Schools prints an up-to-date version of the Code of Conduct for students and families to review. This important document guides students and school staff on what expectations for school conduct and the consequences for behaviors that fall outside of those expectations. It is important that families review this information every year and acknowledge their receipt and understanding of this document.
To this end, please click here to access an electronic version of the Code of Conduct for the current school year. After you have reviewed this information, all families must sign an electronic acknowledgement that they have received, read, and understand the information contained, including the Annual Notification to Parents/Guardians; Behavioral Code of Conduct; Rights and Responsibilities of Students and Parents; and Board of Education Policies book. To sign your electronic acknowledgement, please follow the steps described here. Please complete this by Friday, August 23rd.
Again, thank you for your continued partnership and support. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me directly at 720-652-8101.
Sincerely,
Traci L. Haley
Principal
Communicating and Visiting
We wanted to remind families of our procedures regarding communicating with teachers and visiting the school.
We consider the school a workplace - for both teachers and students. Just as visitors in your workplace can pull you away from your work, visitors can impact our ability to have teachers and students stay focused on their learning. For this reason, we have procedures in place to help you be able to visit in a way that supports you as a parent, while making sure the educational process is not interrupted.
We believe that communication between home and school is critical to our mission of educating your children. We recognize that communication needs vary from family to family and want to honor your needs. We ask in turn that you honor the following practices so we can keep our school running smoothly for all students.
I have something I need to talk with the teacher about…
The best way to communicate with a teacher is to start the conversation by email. Teachers are able to respond through email or by calling you, and will typically do so within 24 hours.
Remember that teachers have up to 30 students and families that they are communicating with, so instant responses are not usually possible.
You are also welcome to call and leave a voice message, although teachers are often able to get back to you quicker when they can read your message.
But this is urgent...
If you have an urgent matter, please contact the front office and indicate that the matter is urgent.
We can try to help you resolve the situation ourselves, or can get that information to the teacher.
I want to volunteer at the school…
Teachers will reach out to families if they need volunteers. If you're interested in volunteering, please connect with your child’s teacher or another teacher in the building.
Unfortunately, we do not have the capacity to use ‘drop in’ volunteers, because it causes teachers to have to stop what they are doing and gather work, which disrupts learning.
I just want to drop something off…
You would be amazed at how many children forget their glasses or lunch or other necessary items when they come to school!
While it might not seem like a big impact for one parent to go down to the classroom to bring a forgotten item, if it is the third or fourth parent that day, it adds up to a lot of disrupted learning time for the class.
If your child forgets an item, please bring it to the office. We will ensure that all forgotten items are delivered to classrooms at approximately 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. daily.
I need to check Lost and Found...
Parents are welcome to check the lost and found area after school hours to avoid disruptions during the school day.
I’ll just catch the teacher at the beginning or end of the day…
While it would seem like just before or just after school would be a good time to communicate with your child’s teacher, these are critical times for teachers to be focused on students and student safety.
Teachers are required to supervise students with their full attention especially at arrival and dismissal.
Please be understanding if a teacher lets you know that ‘now is not a good time,’ and requests that you email or set up a time to call/meet.
Students are aware of the lost and found location and are encouraged to check for their lost items independently.
Visitor Reminders...
All visitors are required to sign in at the front office and receive a blue/white visitor badge before going beyond the office area. Please wear the badge so that it is visible to building staff! If you are not wearing a badge, staff members will stop you and ask that you return to the front office.
Breakfast and Lunch
All students in St Vrain Valley Schools will have access to free healthy, nutritious school meals beginning in the 2024-25 school year thanks to the Health School Meals for All program approved by Colorado voters.
Please continue to fill out the Free and Reduced Price Lunch form. While meals will be provided for free to all St Vrain students through Healthy School Meals for All, it’s important for us to continue gathering this information to receive full access to available federal funds that support nutritional programs at your school. By providing this information, you will help our district access all available funds to cover the cost of meals, and other nutritional programs for students. Plus, families who fill out the form may qualify to receive discounted school fees, class materials, bus passes, utilities support and more!
Breakfast will be served in the cafeteria from 8:00am-8:20am. Students may enter through the front doors starting at 8:00am.
Please click here for the breakfast and lunch menus.
For the safety of all students, we ask that parents do not join students for breakfast or lunch in the cafeteria. However, you are welcome to pick up your student and take them out for lunch.
Arrival and Dismissal
Parking: There is limited parking at the school. If you need to park and enter the building with your child, please make sure you are parked legally on a neighborhood street. Be friendly to our neighbors by not blocking driveways please! For the safety of our students, the staff parking lot should never be used for student drop off or pickup. Please note that the parking lot will be blocked off in the morning from 8:00am-8:20am and in the afternoon from 3:00pm-3:15pm.
Hug and Go Lane: Please make sure that you are helping us keep traffic moving in the Hug and Go Lane. Remember the lane closest to the school is for drop off only. NO PARKING IS ALLOWED IN THIS LANE BEFORE SCHOOL in order to provide student safety while being dropped off. After school you may park on either side of the hug and go lane.
Bus Lanes: This year, we have added an additional bus lane to improve traffic flow and ensure the safety of our students during arrival and dismissal times. We kindly ask all parents to avoid parking in the bus lanes and to refrain from moving any cones that are blocking off these areas. Your cooperation is essential in keeping our bus lanes clear and ensuring a smooth and safe process for everyone.
Crosswalks: We will continue to use the crosswalk at the halfway point of the hug and go lane. For safety reasons, students should only use crosswalks and avoid cutting between cars. If your child needs to cross, please ensure they use the crosswalk and do not allow them to cross anywhere else.
Handicapped Parking: The first spot in the parking lot is designated for handicapped parking. This spot will be accessible at all times. We will continue to have the rest of the staff parking lot closed for student safety purposes.
LEE Dismissal: Students will be dismissed at 3:00 PM. They will exit the building from their designated area. If you want to meet your child, please arrive early, find a legal place to park, and walk around the building to their area. Students may also walk themselves to the front of the building and meet you in the Hug & Go lane. You are welcome to stay in your car and wait for your child.
iPad Insurance
The iPad Damage Optional Insurance program is designed to help offset the costs of a lost or damaged iPad to families. Please see the chart below for the cost of repairs without insurance.
The LTP Student iPad Insurance window for the 2024-2025 school year opens August 1st and closes on September 15th. Parents who wish to join the insurance pool for this year will need to make at least a partial payment within this window.
2024-2025 LTP Student iPad Insurance: $25

Student and Family Handbook
Please take time to read the 2024-2025 Student and Family Handbook in order to thoroughly familiarize yourselves with our school and district policies. This handbook also serves as a reference throughout the school year as pertinent information.
The handbook is considered a contract between the family and the school. Please read it carefully. In the coming weeks, we will be sending home an acknowledgement form for you to sign.
No Dogs Allowed
For the safety of our children, and for your own liability protection, we do not allow dogs on school property or in the school (with the exception of service dogs) during school hours or during school events. A dog that is friendly to you may frighten a young child or may become excited or aggressive in the presence of several children. We realize this may be inconvenient to some people but this is in the best interest of student safety. Should you walk your dog on school property outside of these hours, please remember to pick up after your pet.
Thank you!
Playground Closure
As a reminder, students with adult supervision are welcome to use the small playground in the front of the building starting at 3:15PM. Pratt Park is also a great option for families wanting a fun place to play after school.
