Dear Henry Families,
Happy New Year 2025!
The month of December was packed full of learning opportunities, classroom projects, end of the semester assessments, OMA concerts, and the Family Glow Party. It was great to see so many of our Henry families attend these events with students and our team. I hope that our students, families, and team members had a wonderful winter vacation, and you enjoyed time with your loved ones.
During our first semester students participated in the Kids Heart Challenge which ended on November 29th. Our Gila Monsters raised $3,255.20! This is an amazing effort! Mrs. Starks' 5th grade class had the most registered students, and Mrs. Amarillas' 1st grade class was the top class with fundraising overall.
Our families can now access ParentVue to register students for the 2025-2026 academic school year. Anna Henry is participating in our TUSD Step Up to Success Night on Thursday, January 23, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. This event is being held at the Tucson Convention Center at 260 S. Church Avenue. All TUSD schools will be in attendance and have representation to answer questions. This is a wonderful opportunity to see offerings at the middle school level for families that are considering this for both 5th and 6th grade students. Our Kindergarten Kickoff will be Tuesday, February 4, from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at Henry. Prospective kindergarten students and families are welcome to tour our classrooms during this time to see instruction, kindergarten offerings, and our teachers. Please pass this information along to family and friends that are looking for academic offerings next year.
Our Character Strong trait this month in January is Perseverance. Perseverance is pushing yourself to work through challenges and obstacles. Families can encourage youngsters to develop their perseverance by praising children’s effort over the outcome of events. Adults can also model this by setting achievable goals, encouraging problem solving when life’s challenges arise, and celebrating short-term goals.
This month students that are participating in our school Science Fair will have an opportunity to display their learning and projects with our school community. All projects are due at school on Tuesday, January 14, and the actual Science Fair is on Thursday, January 16, from 2:30-4:30 p.m.
On a final note, Henry students have an opportunity to audition for our school Variety Show. Auditions will take place on Tuesday, February 10, after school. Informational flyers went home in December and permission slips will go home in January for the audition. All students participating in the Variety Show audition will need their own transportation home this day. The Variety Show will take place at the end of quarter three on March 3, at 6:30 p.m. before Spring Break.
