MT's purpose is to educate and empower students to become responsible citizens.
A Few Words From the Principal
I have enjoyed being in classrooms and experiencing the learning and activities that students are engaging in during class. As we look at eligibility and grades, we are noticing that some students are struggling to get back into the groove of school after winter break and snow days. Please take a few minutes to have a conversation about school and what they are learning. I know there are a few of you that are probably thinking that this may be a short conversation with a lot of "nothings, I don't know, or okays," but here are a few questions you can ask and things you can do to find out more:
- Have your student open up their Canvas and show you what they have been doing in each of their classes.
- When you see an assignment listed in Canvas ask them to explain it to you. Ask them if they turned it in or if they have finished the assignment if it is not due yet. Ask them to show it to you if it is an electronic assignment
- If your student does not know if they turned in an assignment or what the assignment is, help them craft an email to that teacher asking about the assignment.
- Skyward is another place you or your student can look to see if assignments have been turned in or are missing. Missing assignments are listed at the top of the grade book. Remember that "*" means the assignment has not been graded/ entered yet.
- If you or your student has questions about grades or assignments, help your student craft an Email to the teacher.
We thank you for partnering with us to help our scholars reach their potential.

Career Day
We are excited to once again hold Career Day the morning of Friday, March 14th! We're looking for individuals to share their careers with our student scholars as they prepare to make their course selections for next year. All careers are welcome to come and share! If you, or someone you know, are interested in presenting, please sign up here! We will be in touch soon with more information.
From Student Council
Students, start saving your dollars💰! During lunch on Thursday, January 30, you may purchase duct tape for $1 a foot and stick it to Mr. Santaularia, kitchen manager and chef extraordinaire. The goal is to tape him head to toe to a pole in the cafeteria and leave him stuck. You can participate by bringing in your dollars. There is no limit to how many feet of tape you can buy, and all money collected goes to the American Red Cross for California wildfire relief. Let's have some fun while raising funds for an important cause!

Attendance Reminders
Some attendance reminders as we get 2nd Semester underway:
Please report all full-day absences (illness, appointment, etc.) and late arrivals due to morning appointments by 8:30 a.m. You may call the school attendance line at 913-422-5854 or use the online absence form. The school will call to follow-up with unreported absences after this time. Students arriving tardy after 7:55 must enter through the front office doors (you are not required to escort late students inside, but if your student is late due to an appointment, please report it to the office so their attendance is appropriately marked).
Students are allowed ten (10) days of absences per school year without an accompanying appointment note. (This includes illness, appointments, and “parent request” absences, which should be coordinated with the school in advance). Absences in excess of ten (10) without accompanying documentation will be considered unexcused. Missing a substantial portion of a day (three (3) or more class periods) shall be considered one "day." Unexcused absences are subject to the rules set forth by the Board of Education and Kansas Truancy Laws.
You are not required to notify the office in advance if you will be checking a student out during the school day for an appointment. Please ring the bell at the main office, present your ID, state your student's name and indicate you are checking them out, and complete the student check out inside and we will call your student from class at that time. Students will only be released to parent/guardians or emergency contacts listed in Skyward unless coordinated in advance with the school.

Congratulations to the qualifiers for our Great History Challenge! The following students have been invited to compete at the regional level on February 26th! Less than 5% of students nationally qualify for regionals, so this is a pretty big accomplishment!
