What is Dual Enrollment?
Who is Eligible?
Student must meet all requirements as stated by the specific college to which they are applying.
OVA can fund UP to 10 classes over the course of high school.
Allowances are different for full and part-time students.
Where can I take classes?
What types of classes may I take?
Extremely important factors to consider:
1) Am I academically ready to take college level classes and participate in college level discussions?
2) Am I emotionally ready to be on a college campus geared towards adults. Am I emotionally ready to participate in college level discussions?
3) Colleges interact with students ONLY. Am I ready to participate with minimal (if any) parental involvement?
Books
OVA funding may cover the cost of required text books provided that the overall cost is within the $1525 limit per class. Please purchase books from the campus bookstore to be added to your college account.
If you acquire the book on your own, please save a copy of your detailed receipt and your course syllabus indicating that the book is required. After submitting your final grade for the course, you will be considered for book reimbursement.
For required materials other than books, please reach out to your counselor.
Frequently Asked Questions:
1. I'm a part-time student - If I'm a part-time student may I take two 4-credit classes with OVA paying for 7 credits and we self-pay the difference? Unfortunately, no. In this case it is about the number of credits and our State reporting requirements.

3. Each college has a different process. Please note how to satisfy the required steps and paperwork both for OVA and the college.
4. If you don't see your college of choice listed, you may search on your own or contact your counselor for assistance.
5. Submit all paperwork through our DUAL ENROLLMENT PORTAL!
6. All steps in the portal MUST BE COMPLETE PRIOR TO THE START OF THE FIRST DAY OF THE COLLEGE CLASS.
7. If there are any changes to your college schedule, once it has been submitted and approved, you MUST notify your counselor immediately to avoid being financially responsible for your course(s). **This is especially important for part-time families as you must ensure that you remain within the 7-credit hour limit**
Authorization for classes must be obtained for each semester. Authorization only comes from OVA administration. These letters will be emailed to you as well (search: noreply@oxfordschools.org) as well as being available in the OVA portal.
If you are able to register for classes without authorization paperwork, please be sure to still send in your OVA paperwork. This is to ensure that you are properly registered as a dual enrollment student with the appropriate funding arrangements. Without the paperwork, you may be unenrolled from your classes or billed for them.
