MUMS Family Newsletter
March 22, 2024
Dear MUMS community,
I hope this message finds you well. This week at MUMS students and staff were hard at work finishing up Quarter three assignments as we approach the end of our Quarter. Please check in with your child about missing assignments so that there aren't any surprises when we publish report cards in a few weeks.
Next week students will engage in practice tests in preparation for our VTCAP testing, set to take place the first week of April. Thanks for making sure that your child is rested and ready for testing week when it arrives.
Please stay safe this weekend and enjoy the snow!
If you have questions generally, please reach out to us at mwisell@acsdvt.org (Michaela)
or zjerome@acsdvt.org (Zach) or dhunt@acsdvt.org (Dustin) or by calling the MUMS office at 802-382-1600 or by visiting the MUMS website for more information.

From our MYP Coordinators
We are nearing the end of the quarter! One more week! It is a great time to check your child’s grades on PowerSchool to make sure they have turned in all required work before grades close for Quarter 3. Here are two links we provided earlier in the year in case you need a refresher about how to access the information!
Two ways to access PowerSchool information on your computer (NOT your phone app):

The Mindset Kit
“The Mindset Kit was created by The Project for Education Research that Scales (PERTS), a research center in the psychology department at Stanford University. Our goal is to create a place where educators and parents can learn about and find the most effective learning mindset materials available. All of our resources are based on research that has been carefully translated into lessons and practices intended to improve students’ mindsets and make them better learners. We currently offer targeted materials for teachers and parents to ensure our messaging is as effective as possible.” from PERTS Mindset Kit.
These resources are designed to help parents to learn about growth mindset and practices to support your child.
April 8th - Total Eclipse and Early Release Day
Remember, Monday April 8th, is an early release day due to the eclipse (this is in addition to the scheduled early release day on April 3rd). Every ACSD student will receive eclipse glasses. Visit our eclipse web page to learn more about what your students may be doing at school and activities to try at home! For eclipse-specific traffic and weather updates, VT Emergency Management is offering a text update system. Text VTECLIPSE to 888777.
Career Day At MUMS!
On the May 1st Early Release Day, MUMS will be hosting a morning of career exploration with our students. The purpose of this event is to help introduce students to the variety of careers and opportunities available to them and begin the process of planning for their lives after school. Career exploration has a variety of benefits for students including building a sense of identity, discovering their unique interests and abilities, as well as practice with goal setting.
We are looking for interested community members to help make this day a success! Would you be willing to host a session with students in which you share information about your career? Sessions will be approximately 30 minutes and should include information about what's needed to be successful at your job, what's part of your daily work, and a hands-on activity related to your career field. We are more than happy to help you design a session if you need ideas or inspiration.
Please complete this survey if you are interested in joining us!
