A student did not show up for my final exam! Now what?
Please enter a grade of zero for the final exam until the student makes up the final exam. Incompletes will not be given.
Take a copy of the exam and all materials the student will need for the exam to 1220 and complete a folder for the student. Please place directions for the exam proctor (Student may use a calculator; student may us the novel, etc.)
Puppy de-stress time is a success for students and staff!

The AHS Faculty High School Photo
Who is this staff member?
Last week’s photo was of Alex Henner, math teacher. Michelle Austin was the first faculty member to guess correctly this week, and she earned a jeans sticker!
Faculty tidbit - Ms. Austin and Mr. Henner went to high school together. Is it any wonder she was the first to guess his photo correctly?
Can you figure out the last staff member of the year?
Quote for the week
Thank you to all who helped with the device return process!

AHS's first annual Caberet was incredible!
The drama caberet offered a place for our students to showcase their talents.
Students sang, danced, and performed scenes and monologues.
Even Ms. Austin and Ms. Stoffle got in on the act!

What I plan not to do during my summer vacation –
Stress too much (Kurt Davies)
Ideas for cool things to do in the Atlanta area during summer for those who are searching for something new –
There is a Civil Rights Photography Exhibit at the High Museum of Art.
There is also an exhibit on the Art of Eric Carle (of the Hungary Caterpillar fame) at the high as well.
We love to go to the Children’s Museum (it has been totally redone!) then splash around in Centennial Olympic Park and get Ice Cream next to it
We also love to go to the Little Acorn’s Event at the Avalon every Tuesday at 10AM they have kids day and they have fun activities for the kids to do and participate in and the stores get involved as well
I also love to take him to the Woodruff Arts Center on Sundays from 1-4 they do an entire afternoon geared towards young kids with crafts and story time (their website has a schedule for every Sunday’s agenda!)
The Gwinnett Braves do kids nights/day games if you look online at their schedule it is so fun to take the kids there and they can play and eat dinner and watch baseball and especially if they have a kids event planned for that game! Their website usually tells you what the theme of each home game is and tickets are super cheap
I cheat and use these sites to stay updated all summer!

Additional Professional Development days for AHS
The Alpharetta High School Governance Council received permission to have 4 full release days added for the 16/17 school years. These days are considered "critical days" and need leave approval directly from Dr. Kersey. The selected days are listed below:
September 2, 2016
November 7, 2016
January 17, 2017
March 31, 2017
Raider "Balance Days" for 2016-17 - mark your calendars!
We want to create a community filled with more balanced lives. The School Governance Council proposed a solution, and the Instructional Leadership Team agreed; thus, we have declared two nights a semester during the 2016-17 school year as "Balance Days."
October 19th
November 16th
February 15th
March 15th
The nights above are Wednesday nights the week of the 17th (to celebrate the class of 2017), and on these nights there will not be any homework assigned, no assessments will occur the next day, and no AHS meetings will be scheduled.
The idea is that Raiders will go home right after school and work to create balance in their lives. Staff members and students alike will take a night off. Club sponsors and coaches and directors may hold meetings and practices and games as needed. We feel students release stress through these extracurricular activities.
Please plan to enjoy yourself and work your assessments around these dates next year.
