Principal's Corner
Dear Warrior Family,
As we welcome the month of April, we find ourselves navigating a whirlwind of testing schedules and unpredictable weather! Just remember, if you happen to see snowflakes in April, it’s simply Mother Nature keeping us on our toes!
To our seniors: it's time to lock in and wrap up those final assignments! Graduation is just around the corner in June, and we are excited to celebrate this significant milestone with you. Your hard work and determination are truly commendable, and we have loved witnessing your growth throughout the years.
We would also like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to our PTSA for providing our scholars with delicious donuts and bagels during testing. A big thank you to the parents who participated in our recent virtual parent meeting; your collaboration makes A&T a special place for our students. As the saying goes, “Teamwork makes the dream work,” and together, we are creating an environment where our young people can thrive from freshmen to sophomores and beyond.
The energy our seniors are bringing as they prepare for prom is infectious, making our school a vibrant and joyful place. We are thrilled to see their excitement as they celebrate this memorable occasion!
As we approach May, we would like to remind everyone that it’s also Teacher Appreciation Week from May 5th to 10th. Please take a moment to reach out via email to your teachers and express your gratitude for their dedication and support in your child’s educational journey.
Thank you for your continued support, and let’s make this month a fantastic one!
Warm regards,
David Reese, Principal
Southfield A&T

Girl's Soccer
Girls Soccer played against Harper Woods this week coming off a rough start to the season and got their first win! It was exciting to watch the girls work together and secure the win on our home field! They played River Rouge next where they mercied them 8-0. It was a tremendous team effort as everyone worked together! They plan to keep the winning streak going.
Softball
Our Softball team came out swinging as they won their first game in a double hitter against Royal Oak Shrine. Bell led Southfield Arts & Tech Varsity Warriors with two hits in two at-bats. Adams and Ross each drove in one run. Phillips led with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating six walks for the game. Adams, Bell, and Evans, each stole multiple bases for Southfield A&T Warriors. Southfield A&T Warriors ran wild on the base paths, piling up nine stolen bases for the game.
Baseball
Baseball has several new members added to the team this year and while our freshmen are still evolving, our seniors are helping them. We had a double hitter against Harper Woods this week. We didn't win either of the games but we improved as the day progressed. We play at home next week against Avondale where we are looking for our first win.

Leaders In Action #7 - written by Paris Whitman
Our school community has been a shining example of leadership in action this month--from the classroom to the court, the field to the stage.
Teachers Remain Victorious in the Student vs. Teacher Showdown
The Senior Class Board brought the energy, but the teachers ultimately claimed victory in the Students vs. Teachers Basketball Game--proving that with age comes wisdom and talent. There were plenty of thrilling moments, laughs, and school spirit as students and faculty battled it out in one of the year’s most highly awaited events.
Junior Class Fundraiser Hits the Sweet Spot
The Junior Class Board also started their leadership experience off to a sweet start with their World’s Finest Chocolate Fundraiser--and it was a big success! Thanks to the faculty and student body support, this first fundraiser set the stage for a positive year of junior class activities and involvement.
NHS Welcomes 18 New Inductees
We also celebrated our long-awaited National Honor Society Induction Ceremony, where 18 new members were inducted into this prestigious organization. It was an afternoon of pride and inspiration, as school leaders gathered to honor excellence in scholarship, leadership, character, and service. The ceremony featured heartfelt words from Mrs. Tucker, Ms. Felix-Brown, NHS Advisor Ms. Ellis, Principal Reese, and Associate Principal Ms. Caggins. NHS President and Vice President, Paris Whitman and Denell Austin also had the honor of speaking and presiding over the induction. The ceremony was memorable with a soulful performance of Lift Every Voice and Sing by Jaylah Robinson, leaving the crowd in awe. One of the most touching messages of the evening was from Ms. Ellis, quoting John C. Maxwell: “A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way.”--a sentiment lived out by all of the leaders highlighted in this month’s column.
Girl’s Soccer Unbeatable Match
On the field, our Girls Soccer Team rocked their third home game of the season with an incredible 8-0 win against River Rouge High School. The team played with unity and heart, as Gabrielle Best scored five goals, Leila Arrington added a goal in the last minute of the game, and Micah Owens added another goal to the scoreboard. While these individual performances sparked the field, ultimately it was a team effort that prevailed on the day in their fourth match of the season.
From service to sportsmanship, and competition at its best, to fundraising at its finest, our student leaders hold the bar even higher--going the way, leading the way, and showing the way for everyone.
