Bryant Panther Press
Week of November 13th
Attendance Matters!
At Bryant School we believe that good attendance is crucial to children attaining good progress and reaching their potential. The vast majority of parents/guardians bring their students regularly, and on time. Thank you. It is vital that your child attends school regularly and arrives at school on time each day. We are committed to work with you to achieve this.
Attendance is Important!
¨ Statistics show a direct link between under-achievement and poor attendance. ¨ Students with regular attendance make better progress, both socially and academically. ¨ Students with regular attendance find school routines and schoolwork easier to cope with and establishes routines which will set them up for their future. ¨ Students with regular attendance have an easier transfer to secondary school, having developed positive habits in attending school every day.
Why is good attendance and punctuality important?
Education lays the vital foundations of a child’s life. Regular and punctual attendance at school is key to both academic and social development, which in turn will improve the life of your students. There is crucial learning taking place in your child’s early years and taking time off can mean that children will have gaps in their knowledge and understanding, as well as in making friendships .
The impact of regular attendance on your child’s learning and well-being; and that having good attendance is directly linked to raising achievement and develops skills for life and work. Regular attendance enables students to adapt better to routines, schoolwork, and friendship groups. Therefore, we ask that parents/guardians support the school by ensuring that your child attends school every day, on time, and is ready to learn.
Panorama School Climate Survey for Families
Helena Public Schools has enhanced the process of creating systems of support linked directly to the assessed needs of our students.
Last month, we shared information about the mental health screening tool BASC-BESS which focuses on academic and emotional strengths and behaviors of students. This month we will ask 3rd through 5th grade students to provide us with feedback on how we are doing to support them at school. This survey is called the Panorama School Climate Survey.
The Panorama School Climate Survey results will provide your child an opportunity to share their perspective of their school experience. Students will provide feedback with regards to what they feel is going well in their school community, as well as what they feel would enhance their school experience.
Thank you for your willingness to assist Helena Public Schools in building a system of student support that is linked directly to data. This survey provides students the opportunity to share what practices and supports that best support their school experience and school success.
We will be conducting the screening from November 13th to November 17th. Please contact my office via email or phone by November 10, 2023, if you wish to have your child opt out of the screening.
