Wildcat Weekly 10/7-10/11

Hi Wildcats! 🐾
Our Kindergarten students did a great job adjusting to their first week of a full day schedule! Way to go Kinder!
We wanted to send a reminder about safe traffic practices during drop off and dismissal each day. We are very fortunate to have our Safety Patrol students working hard in the morning and the afternoon to support traffic and safety in the parking lots. Please drive slow as you enter and exit school and keep an eye on pedestrian traffic. We want to make sure everyone is staying safe during these high traffic times. Thanks for your cooperation and patience.
We hope you've had a wonderful weekend!

Student Absences
Every day that students are present at school is important to their academic success and social-emotional wellbeing. It is very important that students arrive at school on time, and attend school every day unless they are sick, or are attending to a family emergency.
What happens when my child needs to miss school?
Parents should notify the school for all student absences. To report an absence for your child, please call the attendance hotline (858-679-2604) or email pmesattendance@powayusd.com
Only Parents and legal guardians may call the hotline and/or excuse an absence. The hotline and email are available 24 hours. We verify all absences every day, if at the end of the day we do not hear from you your student will be marked truant until you notify us of the reason for their absence. Once we hear from you then the truant code will be corrected to reflect the reason for the absence.
October Counseling News
During the month of September, we had a schoolwide focus on Respect. One way to think about Respect is “seeing value in all people and things & treating them with care.” Across grade levels, students will be developing skills like perspective-taking, conflict resolution, and leadership. This month, our schoolwide focus will be on Responsibility. One way to define responsibility is “taking action and understanding the impact of our choices.” Taking action can mean doing the right thing or completing the tasks you have been assigned. Understanding the impact of our choices means that our actions matter. Across grade levels students will be developing skills like focusing, organizing, and goal-setting. Please check out our monthly trait family newsletter attached below and help us reinforce our monthly traits at home. Thank you!
Fall Book Fair Shopping Starts Now!!
While in-person shopping at our Fall Literati Book Fair isn't until October 21-25, our online fair has already begun! Now is a great time to take a sneak peek at some of the titles we might see at our school book fair, or better yet, start your shopping early and grab some amazing online exclusives like boxed sets of favorite series (a great holiday gift idea!) and titles that won't be available at our in-person fair, including the ever-popular Dog Man and Babysitters Club. All profits from online and in-person book fair purchases directly benefit our school library and help us continue to grow a robust and diverse collection for our Wildcats to enjoy.
Please click here to check out our online Literati Book Fair
Feel free to share this link with friends and family who might also be interested in shopping our fair!
Stay tuned for more information coming home soon in your student's backpack. We would also love volunteers to help during the week of 10/21. Check the link below to see what time your child's class will be shopping. Thank you in advance.
