Resetting the Compass for a Successful Journey!
Dear Cypress Families,
As we embark on this new leg of our adventure in 2025, now is the perfect time to reset, remind, and make small adjustments to ensure a smooth and successful journey for all our young explorers.
Stay on the Trail: Attendance Matters!
At Cypress, we know that every lesson is a stepping stone in the learning expedition, and missing even one day can disrupt a studentโs progress. Thatโs why we remind our adventurers: "When you miss school, you miss YOU." While our students enjoy recess, lunch, and plenty of engaging activities, missing instructional time can cause gaps in learning, anxiety, and confusionโmuch like losing a map on an expedition!
You can help keep your child on course by:
โ
Ensuring they arrive on time each day
โ
Scheduling appointments outside of school hours whenever possible
โ
Establishing strong routines for homework, bedtime, and morning wake-ups
We know this takes much effort, and we appreciate your support in helping our students stay on the right course!
Gear Up: Uniforms Are Part of the Journey!
Just as every great explorer wears the right gear, Cypress students are expected to follow the Covina Valley Unified School District uniform policy. We understand that finding the right pieces mid-year can be a challenge, so if you need assistance, please reach out to Mrs. Reyes for support.
Our faculty and staff are trained to remind and reinforce uniform expectations, ensuring that every student is dressed appropriately for their daily adventure. Students who do not meet the dress code will be addressed as needed to keep them on track.
Safe Travels: Navigating Drop-Off the Right Way
With over 550 explorers arriving each morning, safety is our top priority. However, weโve noticed an increase in families stopping in the inner lane (furthest from the curb) and allowing students to exit the vehicle and cross in front of moving cars. This is extremely dangerous and can lead to unsafe situations.
To keep our explorers safe on their journey, please consider these alternatives:
๐ Arrive earlyโDrop-off begins as early as 7:30 AM for breakfast.
๐ Use the outer lane closest to the curb for safe drop-offs.
๐ Park in a designated space and walk your child to the gate.
Families who do not follow these expectations will be reminded and redirected as needed. We appreciate your cooperation in keeping all our adventurers safe!
Stay on Course: Check Your Maps!
Donโt forget to stay connected by regularly checking our Cypress website and reading the Cub Communications for the latest updates. The journey ahead is full of exciting opportunities, and we want you to be part of every step!
Thank you for your continued support in making Cypress a safe, engaging, and thriving learning community.
Adventure awaits,
Kazuko Tuttle
