Fiesta Parade Donations Needed
The MECC Fiesta Parade is only a couple of days away!
We are still looking for donations of regular sized canned sodas (12 fl oz), jumbo dill pickles, and boxes of variety chips.
Donations can be dropped off through our morning carline or at the front office.
All money raised will go towards end of the year celebrations for all students. Thank you for your consideration and help!
Fiesta Royalty Visit
This past Friday, King Antonio CI, the Commander of the Texas Cavaliers, the Queen and Princess of the Order of the Alamo, the King’s Honor Guard, and other Fiesta Royalty visited our MECC kindergarteners with a lesson about being dedicated. Then the King and Royal Court recognized outstanding students James Rodriguez and Camille Rangel as well as our Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Tiffany Fuentes!
Bus Driver Appreciation Day
Don't forget to show your appreciation with your child's bus driver and assistant this Tuesday, April 23rd! These dedicated individuals are usually the first and last people that your child interacts with during their school day. We are grateful for all that they do!

Notes from the Nurse
t's not too early to get things ready for next school year! All asthma action plans and seizure action plans must be renewed by a doctor each school year. Make your summer appointment to ensure your child has what they need to start the year.
Does your child turn 4 this summer? Children who turn 4 over the summer require vaccines before coming back to school in August. If your child does not have a primary care provider or you are unable to get their vaccines due to insurance coverage, please contact Nurse Heather at heather.siebert@southsideisd.org or 210-882-1610 ext 4059. Students who are non-compliant with vaccines will not be assigned a teacher or be able to start school.
Help Us With Our Goal
Our goal is to provide more tricycles at recess to offer our students a fun and engaging way to learn and develop essential physical, cognitive, and social skills that are foundational for their future growth and learning.

Documentation after an Absence (All Grade Levels)
When a student is absent from school, the student must bring a note signed by the parent that describes the reason for the absence. A phone call from the parent may be accepted, but the district reserves the right to require a written note. NOTE: Unless the absence is for a statutorily allowed reason under compulsory attendance laws, the district is not required to excuse any absence, even if the parent provides a note explaining the absence.
Doctors Note After an Absence
Within 3 days of returning to school, a student absent for more than 3 consecutive days because of a personal illness must bring a statement from a doctor or health clinic verifying the illness or condition that caused the student’s extended absence from school. Otherwise, the student’s absence may be considered unexcused and, if so, would be considered to be in violation of compulsory attendance laws.
For questions regarding your child's attendance, please contact our PEIMS Clerks:
