Growing our minds TOGETHER! 🧠Santa Rita's first graders gathered together to learn more about how to connect letter formation to the sound!
.
Mrs. Ho's second graders stepped into the role of teachers as they shared their knowledge about nonfiction topics with first graders during the Reading Workshop. What an awesome way to learn and grow together! đź’ˇ Great job, second graders, for showing your leadership and making learning fun for everyone
.
Our Santa Rita 4th graders recently finished writing a narrative and they peer-edited using a handy rubric to check their work.
.
Our Santa Rita second graders are growing their skills in many ways!
- They made a little book of gratitude!
- They used the knowledge rating scale from Beth Puma's work to assess their prior knowledge of science vocabulary.
- They used Beth Puma's talk strategy to line up and share in their morning meeting.
- They worked to create introductions in their information writing books!
LETTER FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Santa Rita Families,
Our character trait/SEL focus this month is on Empathy, which is understanding and connecting to other people’s feelings. When we talk to kids about empathy, sometimes we use language like “perspective-taking” or “walking in someone else’s shoes.” I have included the family newsletter so you can learn more about our school-wide focus. There are some great conversation starters so that you might choose to talk with your kids about how others are feeling and how we can provide comfort and support when we see others need it.
As a parent myself, I have appreciated using The Children & Youth Behavioral Health Initiative to help support my own two children. The CYBHI takes an all-of-the-above approach, bringing behavioral health services and supports for children, youth, and families to the spaces where their lives are lived, including in homes, communities, schools, and online.
Next week will fly by quickly, and with the busy season comes much excitement and energy. We appreciate your continued support and patience as students adjust to the whirlwind of activities and celebrations. Our teachers are doing an excellent job balancing academics with moments to recognize the diverse cultures and traditions that make our community so unique. If you’d like to share your family’s traditions with the class, please contact your child’s teacher. It’s an excellent way for students to connect and learn from one another.
Next Wednesday is our Los Altos Educational Foundation’s annual music concert. The event starts at 1:00pm in our Santa Rita Multipurpose Room. Please see the schedule of the performances below.
Let’s Go, Bobcats!

New Student Priority Registration Nov 8-Dec 20!
2024-25 Registrations are taken all year. Please see the registration steps below. Your SCHOOL YEAR registration will be counted as complete once all required paperwork is received.
2025-26 The New Student Priority Registration window is November 8 (8:00 a.m.) - December 20 (5:00 p.m.). School placement priorities for registrations submitted with all required paperwork during this timeframe are as follows:
Siblings of currently enrolled students will have first priority for attending the same school (there is no guarantee that an incoming sibling will be placed at the same school as currently enrolled siblings if registration is received after the priority registration window)
Students who live within their school of residence will have priority for attending their school of residence
If classes are full at the time of registration, the Registrar will assign (overflow) students to a school with available space. Overflowed students will be placed on a waitlist at their school of residence. If space becomes available before the start of the school year, overflowed students will have priority to return to their school of residence based on waitlist placement.
Registrations will continue to be taken after the New Student Priority Registration window. Registrations are considered complete once all required paperwork is received.
