Oak Lawn-Hometown School District 123 Celebrates 1-23 Day

January 23 is a special date for Oak Lawn-Hometown School District 123 as 1-23 Day is an opportunity to show gratitude for the learning community in a fun and meaningful way. Staff members enjoyed a special breakfast from the Great American Bagel and were given matching district shirts with an empowering message printed on the back: "If we don't have each other, we don't have anything..."

Hometown's Special Guests

Hometown opened it's doors to some very special guests on Friday January 26. Moms, dads, aunts, uncles, sisters, friends were invited to spend the morning with their student. The day began at 8:45, when adults were welcome into classrooms and participated in morning meeting.

Kolmar 2nd Graders Step Back in Time

To wrap up their units on ancient Greek civilizations and Greek myths, Kolmar 2nd graders participated in "Greek Day!" They wore togas (tablecloths) and crowns made out of olive branches (colored). The day was filled with activities that reinforced what they had learned over the past several weeks.

Sward's Drama Club Presents..."The Case of the Missing Socks"

On Thursday, January 25th, Sward staff and students enjoyed a dress rehearsal performance by our very own Sward Drama Club. Under the guidance of Mrs. Keblusek and Mrs. Bishop, 4th and 5th grade students in the Drama Club prepared, practiced and finally performed their long awaited show "The Case of the Missing Socks," a sci-fi mystery about a town plagued by missing socks.

1-23 Day at OLHMS!

OLHMS Mustangs celebrated the D123 Community on 1-23 day (January 23rd)! District 123 has been serving the Oak Lawn and Hometown communities since 1902. Oak Lawn-Hometown Middle School has been operating since 2005 and bringing staff, students, and community members together in memorable ways.

A Strong Start for Our Boys Basketball Program

Last week, our OLHMS Boys Basketball Program went on the road to play Palos South and brought home two wins! Our 6/7th grade team played with heart and fight, and our 8th grade team played together and stayed composed during every possession. During the Palos game, our 6/7th grade team had a blow-out 60-21 point win.

D123 DAY!!

On January 23rd, Covington showed their school spirit for D123 day! Teachers enjoyed a breakfast together. It was a day filled with laughter, dance parties and fun themed activities! Students in Mrs. Monroy and Mrs. Rosland's class participated in making equations that equal 123. It was amazing to see all the equations they came up with!

Winter Celebrations

What a better way to end the week than with a party? Hannum students had Winter Parties today during their PE time. Parents came to assist with the day as students chose from a variety of game stations. The stations that were set up were: tic-tac-toe, basketball, crafts, bag toss, checkers, cup stacking, Jenga, and even a photo booth!
