PreK Parent Newsletter
from your Elementary School Leader: Rosa Swonger
WELCOME TO THE PREK MONTHLY NEWSLETTER
Good Day, MAS Elementary Families!
We are thrilled to introduce our monthly newsletter, designed to keep families better informed about what their PreK students are learning and experiencing at school. Each month, we will provide updates on classroom themes, activities, and important reminders.
At MAS, our main goal for the PreK program is to prepare students for their educational journey ahead. By focusing on social, emotional, and academic development, we are building a strong foundation that will help your child succeed in school and beyond. We hope this newsletter helps you stay connected with your child's growth and progress!

YEAR TO DATE ATTENDANCE
Our goal for attendance is 95% for the school year. Here is how your child’s campus is holding up:
- Yale Campus PreK: 88.3%
- Old Coors Campus PreK: 95.3%
Regular attendance is crucial for your child’s success in our PreK program. Please be aware of the following attendance policy:
- Any student with 10 or more unexcused absences within a school year will be dropped from the program.
- If a student has three consecutive absences without communication, they will be withdrawn from the PreK program.
We understand that sometimes absences are unavoidable, so please make sure to communicate with us if your child will be out. Thank you for helping us ensure a consistent and supportive learning environment for all students!
Implementing Curriculum to Build the Whole Child
We are excited to introduce a comprehensive curriculum that nurtures all aspects of your child’s growth, focusing on emotional, social, and physical development. This month, our theme is FALL, and here’s a sneak peek at what we’ll be learning:
Choose Love: Understanding Our Feelings
In our "Choose Love" program, children will learn to identify and understand their emotions, manage their feelings, and practice compassion. These lessons lay the foundation for emotional development.
Taking Care of Ourselves: Health and Well-being
Students will also explore essential self-care skills, focusing on making healthy choices, including nutrition, physical activity, and hygiene, through the Three Cheers for Health unit.
Learning About Families and Building Resilience
This month, we’ll dive into the topic of Families, helping students recognize what makes families special. We aim to foster a sense of security and confidence in our classroom environment, ensuring children feel safe even when away from home.
Transitioning to School: We understand leaving family can be challenging. Our teachers are dedicated to creating a warm, welcoming space that helps build resilience in your child.
Building a Family at School: We’ll discuss how to form a "school family," emphasizing friendship, sharing, and teamwork to cultivate a supportive classroom community.
We look forward to an exciting month of learning and growth!

Things Your Child Should Bring to School
Please remember to send your child with the following items to help them feel prepared and comfortable during the school day:
Water bottles: Hydration is important for staying focused and healthy!
Change of clothes: Accidents happen! It’s always good to have a backup set of clothes.
Backpacks on Fridays ONLY: Don't forget to send backpacks for important take-home extra clothes and bedding at the end of the week.
Family Pictures: We’re building a "family tree" at school! Please send a family photo to help decorate our classroom and remind students of their loved ones.
