Principal's Message

Karrer Parents-

Thank you to all of our parents who joined us for curriculum night on Wednesday. If you have any questions about your child's classes moving forward, we encourage you to reach out directly to the teacher or team leader with an email on how we can best collaborate.

MAP TESTING

Having the right data is a key component of individualizing instruction for each child in the Dublin City School District. The Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) assessments give us the ability to measure student achievement and academic growth, independent of grade, across time. The MAP assessment allows us to compare student, class and grade level performance with other students’ performance from around the country.

Please see below for the dates that KMS will administer the MAP assessment this fall in classes:

Testing Dates-

Math- August 27, 28, 29, and 30th.

ELA- September 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th and 13th.

Bike Safety

If your child plans to ride their bike to and from school, please take a few minutes to preview THIS IMPORTANT BIKE SAFETY VIDEO by Dublin Police together! We want all of our students to arrive to and from school safely and have already made note of several students darting into traffic and other unsafe actions! And please, remember those helmets!!

KMS 8th Grade Band to Play at DJHS/DCHS!

Karrer 8th grade bands students will join HS marching bands on the field at an upcoming home high school football game!

Students attending Jerome next year will be performing on Aug. 30th at Jerome.

Students attending Coffman next year will be performing on Sept. 6th at Coffman.

Students will be performing Hang on Sloopy during pregame on the field with the HS bands and other Dublin MS bands. They will then play in the stands during the game. There will be over 250 band students on the field at the same time!! KMS Band Students attend the game for free. Parents, buy tickets online at the HS Athletics page.

Washington DC Trip- 8th Graders

Our 8th grade students will be traveling to Washington DC October 22-25. Please see THIS SLIDE SHOW shared with parents in the Spring. All students must sign up for the trip with Prodigy Tours, and turn in completed forms by no later than September 6th. All details for payment for this trip may be found HERE.

Several of the forms must be notarized for this trip- Unfortunately, DC notary appointments at Karrer are now full! Most banks will offer this service for free, but do require an appointment.

All forms are found on Karrer Website, and all forms are due to school before September 9th.

Whew! What a week! Weather was fantastic and the athletes were busy! Lots more activities coming this week. See below for the schedule.

Ticket INFO:

The Dublin Middle School Family Sports Pass grants entry for up to 5 people to every HOME, REGULAR SEASON athletic contest in the Dublin City Schools District. All Dublin middle schools are included: Davis Middle School, Eversole Run Middle School, Grizzell Middle School, Karrer Middle School, Sells Middle School. Click HERE to purchase.

One game only ticket prices. Cash or Online (with a service fee)

Student: $5.00, Adult: $6.00

No charge for: Karrer students (with ID) for Home events, Seniors (60+) and over, Pre-school or younger children.

Save the Date! Redistricting Webinar on August 27

As part of the planning for Bishop Elementary, Dublin City Schools needs to redistrict school boundaries. Redistricting will focus on incorporating the new school, balancing existing student populations, and accommodating future enrollment growth. Our school is one of eight that may be impacted by this redistricting. As such, parents are invited to join an upcoming public information webinar hosted by Cropper GIS, the third-party expert guiding the process for Dublin City Schools. The webinar will take place on Tuesday, August 27 at 7 PM via Zoom. During the session, Cropper GIS will walk you through their process and timeline for redistricting and explain how your input can help shape their work. The link to join the webinar will be shared in Sunday's district e-newsletter. It will also be posted on the district's redistricting webpage the day of the event. We hope to see you there.

Annual Update Reminder

If you have not yet completed the annual update for your student, please complete this process as soon as possible. Items that can be confirmed or changed as part of the Annual Update include street address, phone number, email, and emergency contacts. The information gathered as part of the Annual Update supports the efficient operation of our district and is critical regarding our ability to communicate with parents in the event of an emergency.

Labor Day

As a reminder, there will be no school on Monday, September 2 is recognition of the Labor Day holiday.
