Welcome Back to School
Welcome back for the 2023-2024 school year! I am happy to report that all schools had a successful start and during the first few days students were engaged in learning new schedules, navigating their building and establishing relationships with teachers and classmates. This marked the first year that we emailed placement letters and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive.
The first few weeks are always busy for families as new schedules are established and there is an abundance of paperwork that needs to be completed. I thank you in advance for completing and returning all paperwork to your student's school in a timely manner. Please be sure to return the Emergency Contact Form as soon as possible. New this year, we will be initiating school closure notifications via SMS Messaging and need to have your correct cell phone number on file. Included with your Emergency Contact Form is a flier on how to opt-in to this new method of communication.
Curriculum Nights are planned during the month of September and I encourage you to mark your calendar for these important events to meet your student's teachers and understand the curriculum. In addition, I invite you to attend my virtual "State of the Schools" address on Thursday, September 14, 2023. During this meeting I will provide updates on the space study, Robinson playground, Equity Strategic Plan and much more. The link can be found below. There will be time for your comments and the meeting will be recorded and available for anyone unable to attend.
As always, I encourage your involvement in your student's education. Whether you are a member of MESA, PAC, or SEPAC, a classroom volunteer or band parent, your participation and support make a difference for all our students.
Sincerely,
Teresa Murphy
Superintendent
