District News:
Patriotic Costumes on Display thanks to Mart Enrichment Foundation
Celebrate Freedom Week would not be complete without a visit from Mrs. Kaufmann's 6th graders dressed in patriotic costumes. Friday, students were greeted by Uncle Sam (Garrett Keas), Abraham Lincoln (Tripp Muir), Betsy Ross (Madeline Burnett), and Lady Liberty (Abigail Richardson). These new costumes were made possible by the Mart Enrichment Foundation.
Each September, teachers submit grant applications to the Enrichment Foundation for up to $2,000 in order to provide innovative materials or opportunities for their students. Those that are selected are notified and funded around December. This organization has been instrumental in allowing our teachers to explore programs that otherwise may not be possible.
Celebrate Freedom Week will wrap up today with a Great American Sing off in the cafeteria led by Mrs. Kaufmann.
Meet Ms. Brockington!
Hello Panthers! My name is Kathryn Brockington, and I am excited to join the Mart ISD family through a partnership with the Heart of Texas Behavioral Health Network.
As part of the Klaras Center for Families, I assist children and adolescents, ages 3 through 17, who face significant emotional and behavioral challenges. Our services focus on empowering children and families to strengthen their relationships, improve functioning, and enhance overall quality of life.
I am a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) working as a Qualified Mental Health Professional in Community Services. My background spans child welfare, medical social work, mental health, geriatrics, and case management. I earned my bachelor’s degree in social work from Tarleton State University and my Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin. Currently, I am working under supervision as I pursue licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). Additionally, I am pursuing a Master of Public Health from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
I firmly believe, as Michael Greger once said, that "A child's mental health can be as important as physical health and deserves the same quality of support."
Originally from Taylor, Texas, I have lived in the Waco area for several years. I am thrilled to return to the small-town atmosphere, traditions, and team spirit that Mart has to offer. I look forward to introducing my husband and three daughters to the Mart community and becoming part of the Panther family.
