I LOVE Career Day! I hope your FVES Firefly tells you all about the fun we had at school Friday. It was a blast!
This week's newsletter includes important information about Field Day and how to sign up to volunteer. We can't do this without your support, so please sign up to volunteer. There is also information about our first FVES community conversation about creating an inclusive environment for all. We included the feedback from the attendees and are currently working to schedule our second community conversation. I am excited about our partnership in this work.

We are excited to be celebrating Asian American, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month at Flower Valley in May! During our morning announcements every week, we will feature some of our staff members who will share about their culture, childhood experiences, and any interesting stories they want to share, and we will shout out to other famous American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander people who have made a difference. Students will also be given a set of coloring pages and activities to engage in throughout the month of May.

Our annual FVES Field Days are right around the corner, and Mr. Taubman is busy preparing. If you are interested in volunteering for Field Day, please complete the sign-up linked here.
- Grades K-2 Field Day will be on Friday, May 17th from 9am - 12pm
- Grades 3-5 Field Day will be on Wednesday, May 22nd from 9am - 12pm
Kindergarten registration is underway! In order to register your child to attend Flower Valley ES, they must be 5 years old by September 1, 2024, and must live within the school boundaries. All of the details can be found on our school website linked here.
Join us in celebrating the memory of our beloved former firefly, Madison Jane Smith, by taking part in a Lego drive. We're collecting NEW and UNOPENED Lego sets through May 31st to bring joy to young cancer patients at Children's National Hospital in Washington, D.C. These Legos will give them fun and distraction during their treatments. Let's come together to spread smiles and hope. Your contribution can truly make a difference. Thanks for your support!
Planning for next year is currently underway. Our teachers, counselors, and administration are developing the most balanced and appropriate classes for every child at Flower Valley. If you are the parent of a kindergarten through 4th grade student at Flower Valley, we value your input and ask that you provide us with information to help us develop appropriate class groupings for next year. While we do not accept teacher requests, we do value your thoughts about what type of environment works best for your child as well as any social or academic concerns that we may be able to minimize for next year. Please complete the form linked here no later than May 10th. Thank you for your input!
-Get ready for the FVES PTA Carnival & Silent Auction Sunday, May 19th from 2:00pm-5:00pm at FVES (Rain or Shine). We will have inflatables, games, snacks, frozen treats, DJ, dancing, and prizes, class raffle baskets (some basket themes include- Disney magic, animal lover, rainy day fun, just add ice-cream, a night at the movies, and so much more!), balloon artist, and glitter tattoos.
Tickets sold on site- $5.00 per child | $15.00 max per family
-Congratulations to the fifth grade, who won a STEM Night trophy for having the most students of any grade presenting STEM projects! Thank you to the 5th graders, and to all those who presented and participated!
