I hope everyone had the chance to take advantage of the beautiful weather this weekend! We had a very busy week last week and it is hard to believe that our spring break is just 5 days away. It was great seeing so many parents and family members out last week during the family lunches.

I also want to thank the parents and teachers for your conversations with students about their words to other students and to adults.

We hope to see many of the parents out this week for grade level field days as well as the PTA Game Night and Evening Book Fair Thursday night. We hope everyone has a great week and safe and relaxing spring break vacation. Thank you for your continued support and cooperation.

On Tuesday I had the pleasure of joining our 5th grade students at Enterprise Village. What an exciting day. Students worked in number of different businesses; Design Power, CVS, Achieva, McDonalds, the United Way, and Bay Care just to name a few. Students produced a TV Show, wrote and distributed a Newspaper, and were DJ’s on a live student run radio station spinning tunes and reporting the news. The village Mayor did a fantastic job of managing the entire student experience. Students made money for their day’s work and were able to spend money on food, snacks and trinkets. This experience truly does mimic the “real world.”

Thank you to our 5th grade teachers for doing the prep work during class and being at the event cheering on our students.

Thank you to the 42 chaperones that joined us and helped make the day a huge success. Without your support and partnership, this day would not have been possible.

Congratulations to our 4th & 5th Grade students who participated in the Mighty Mu math competition this past weekend at Palm Harbor University High School. The competition was an opportunity for our top math students to compete against other elementary schools in the district. The 5th Grade Team 1 finished in 4th place overall. Individually Cooper Davis finished in 7th place and Gwen Gardner finished in 11th place. Logan Ranahan Roberts finished in 7th place individually in 4th Grade. Special thanks to Mrs. Hickman and Mrs. Schuler who were the coaches and sponsors of the program.

Congratulations to all of our 5th Grade students who traveled to the Stavros Institute to Enterprise Village this past week. The students enjoyed an opportunity to apply their business skills in real world situation running Enterprise Village for the day. A special thanks goes out to the 5th grade teachers for planning the event and to Mrs. Gerber and our parent volunteers who chaperoned and assisted the students.

Congratulations to Dominic Stolar who was only 1 of 15 Pinellas County elementary students and the only kindergarten student recognized at the Creative Pinellas Galleries. Dominic received an award of merit for his artwork "Wading Patiently" and a $30 gift card for his supplies.
