Student Behavior:
As we enter the last quarter of the school year, inappropriate school behavior typically increases. Parents, please partner with us and talk with your children about proper school behavior. An excellent place to start this conversation is the Irons Guidelines for Success. If students follow the guidelines daily, all students can and will be successful!

Parents wishing to exempt students from STAAR Assessments:
While we appreciate your concerns, it is important to understand that as an individual district, we do not have the authority to excuse a student from taking state assessments. Texas Education Code §26.010 gives parents certain rights. Specifically, the statute states:
26.010 Exemption from Instruction:
(a) A parent is entitled to remove the parent's child temporarily from a class or other school activity that conflicts with the parent's religious or moral beliefs if the parent presents or delivers to the teacher of the parent's child a written statement authorizing the removal of the child from the class or other school activity. A parent is not entitled to remove the parent's child from a class or other school activity to avoid a test or to prevent the child from taking a subject for an entire semester.
(b) This section does not exempt a child from satisfying grade level or graduation requirements in a manner acceptable to the school district and the agency.
Added by Acts 1995, 74th Leg., ch. 260, Sec. 1, eff. May 30, 1995.
Please be aware that all students in attendance on assessment dates will be given their appropriate state assessment as mandated by the state. If the student chooses not to complete the assessment, the assessment will still be submitted for scoring, as required by the Texas Education Agency, which will result in a score of 0 for the student. If a student is absent for the entire window in which state assessments are given, the student’s assessment will be marked to reflect that the student was absent from school.
Transportation:
The CISD Bus Smart tags have been a success. Most students use the tags when loading and unloading our buses daily. To increase the speed at which we can load and unload, please remind your child to have their smart tag out and ready anytime they are loading and unloading buses. By doing this, we believe our buses' on-time performance will improve.
For the safety of all students, we will only allow our car rider students to exit in front of the school. Parents, please do not ask your child to violate this expectation. It will take all of us working together to keep our students safe.
Attendance Matters: It is essential that your child is in class each day unless they are ill. If your child misses school, please email our attendance office and remind your child to get in touch with their teacher about missed work. Irons Attendance Office
Student IDs: All students must wear their CISD Student ID to school daily. Students who forget their ID will need to purchase a temporary ID for $1.00. Students must have their student ID in order to purchase lunch, ride CISD Transportation, and attend games and school events. If your child needs a new Student ID, they must stop by the AP Office.
Conroe ISD: Forbes Top 100 America’s Best Large Employers Conroe ISD was named the 37th best large employer in America and the number one public school district employer on the list.

Academic Achievement: Retention and Promotion
Promotion and course credit shall be based on mastery of the curriculum. Expectations and standards for promotion shall be established for each grade level, content area, and course and shall be coordinated with compensatory, intensive, and/or accelerated services. [See EHBC] The District shall comply with applicable state and federal requirements when determining methods for students with disabilities [see FB] or students who are English language learners [see EHBE and EKBA] to demonstrate mastery of the curriculum.
Any modified promotion standards for a student receiving special education services shall be determined by the student's admission, review, and dismissal (ARD) committee and documented in the student's individualized education program (IEP).
In grades 7–8, promotion to the next grade level shall be based on an overall average of 70 on a scale of 100 based on course-level, grade-level standards (essential knowledge and skills) for all subject areas and a grade of 70 or above in English, Mathematics, and either Science or Social Studies.
Students unsuccessful in the current academic year must attend summer school. Students who do not meet the policy for promotion to the next grade level after summer school will be retained in the current grade.

RHYTHM-N-BLUE SHOW CHOIR
A summer tradition for 19 years!
Believe it or not, summer will be here before we know it! Now is the time to get your student ready to attend Camp Singalier, CISD's very own summer music camp, close by at The Woodlands College Park High School. This camp has been approved by Conroe ISD, so you know it is the very best in a fun and educational camp for your child! Please view pictures of the showchoir and Camp Singalier at our website: http://cavalierchoir.com/
Sponsored by the acclaimed Rhythm-n-Blue of the College Park Choir Department, Camp Singalier is designed for grades K – 8. Using a variety of exciting activities, your child will learn to sing, dance, and perform songs. As parents, you are invited to see the results of the week's accomplishments with a spectacular performance of entertainment featuring all the camp participants in the College Park High School Auditorium, complete with professional stage lighting and sound!
Rhythm-n-Blue members will lead and assist in all the awesome activities of Camp Singalier. The Rhythm-n-Blue show choir is a very select group of 11th and 12th grade students who are outstanding performers in singing and dancing. Rhythm-n-Blue performs at many civic and school events, and their repertoire spans the best of Broadway and popular hits as showcased in their concerts featured exclusively at College Park to their award-winning performances at state choral competitions such as the Madrigal Festival in Dallas and San Antonio.
Please support this Conroe ISD camp, which is our ONLY fundraiser to purchase costumes and music for Rhythm-n-Blue. By attending our camp, you help us fund this valuable program as we continue to promote music and the arts, not only in Conroe ISD schools, but also in our outreach to the community.
Thanks again for attending our camp. Look forward to FUN!!!!!
