Cedar Grove Friday Flash
May 3, 2024
Dear Cedar Grove Families:
We are looking forward to Bear Day, which is Friday, May 10 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. We are still in need of many volunteers, so if you are available, please sign up here . We appreciate our parents who have already volunteered their time to help make this a fun event for our students. Many parents signed up to be classroom chaperones; however, since teachers will be moving with their students through all the stations, the greatest need is for people to monitor a station instead. As of this morning, there were fifteen stations needing volunteers, so if you could please change your sign up on the above link from class chaperone to an open station, that would be very helpful. Thank you so much for your help in making this day a great success!
Families are welcome to attend the Special Education Family Resource Fair on Saturday, May 11 at Montgomery Blair High School from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. The event will include a variety of community resources, vendors and fun children’s activities, including moon bounces, music, arts and crafts and balloon artists. Click here for more details.
Families are also invited to the Gaithersburg Book Festival, a free celebration of books, writers and literary excellence on Saturday, May 18, at Bohrer Park from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. More than 100 authors and illustrators will appear, with activities for children of all ages. Click here to learn more.
Our Cedar Grove Spring Concert will be held on Monday, May 20, 2024 at Clarksburg High School. The concert will begin at 7:00 p.m. Students should plan to arrive at 6:00 p.m. for rehearsal and warm-ups on stage and should wear their CGES music T-shirt (coming soon), jeans, and comfortable shoes.
Cedar Grove has a partnership with KidsCo, which provides before and after school programs on-site. Registration is available for this school year as well as the upcoming school year. More information can be found by clicking this link to the flyer.
We hope to see you at Around the World Night this evening at 5:00-7:30 p.m. Have a wonderful weekend!

Parent Input for 2024-2025 School Year
We are quickly moving toward the end of this year, and we are already preparing for the 2024-2025 school year. This includes beginning the articulation process by which we form classes for the coming year. It is helpful for us to hear from you regarding your plans for next year. Please click on this link to let us know if your child will be attending Cedar Grove next year or if your child will be attending another school.
In addition, if you have other information that you would like us to consider as part of this process, please send a letter or email us, Mr. Wynne and Mrs. German, with the information you wish to share. Although teachers and other staff know your children well in the school setting, there may be other factors you’d like us to consider. Your letter or email might include your views on your child’s strengths and needs as well as their learning style and the type of learning environment that you feel is best matched to it. Information about which children your child should or should not be grouped with is also helpful. Letters should not include requests for particular teachers, and such requests will not be considered. Please submit both the form and any additional information to us by Friday, May 10. Please let us know if you have any questions.
Career Day - Update
Thank you so much to the 18 parents who have signed up to share their career during our school wide Career Day on June 5, 2024! This day cannot happen without your help! Please sign up to share your career with our students. The are eager and excited to learn from you!
Kindergarten Registration Information and Sign-up for Kindergarten Sneak Peek

From Mrs. Hirschhorn, Media Specialist
The May Media Monthly has been updated! In addition to our lessons for B week, our book club updates, and of course we also have our May interactive bulletin board slowly getting loaded with the most wonderful jellybeans to celebrate our diversity. Bear Day is this coming Friday, and we are so excited (a little nervous about the weather, but more excited!). We really need parent volunteers. We urge you to Sign up to spend the day outside, enjoying our students as they enjoy all the activities offered in our rotations. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
