Thank you DHS teachers for presenting during T3 Day!

Mr. Gonzalez and Mrs. Guzman

Mr. Gonzalez and Mrs. Guzman discussed the different levels of ELL students at DHS and how they are served by our ELL department.

Dr. Hoy & Mrs. Mora

Dr. Hoy and Mrs. Mora presented on embedding literacy into the classrooms. They provided a variety of instructional strategies including AI that can support our diverse learners.

Mrs. Boreing

In this session, Mrs. Boreing explored databases from Galileo.

Mrs. Bollwerk

In this session, Mrs. Bollwerk shared her co-teaching model in an economics lesson that promotes literacy.

Mr. Meszaros

In this session, Mr. Meszaros shared his co-teaching model in an economics lesson that promotes literacy.

Mr. Johnson

In this session Mr. Johnson explained the notebook system he uses in his class including both highly structured and less structured modifications along with tips and tricks such as identifying and grading late work.

Mr. Martin & Mr. Harris

Mr. Martin and Mr. Harris introduced using OneNote and Magic School to implement warmups and lessons into daily classes.

Ms. Aiken

Ms. Aiken presented on using different manipulatives to show how to differentiate in the math classroom through dry erase tables and boards.

Dr. Miller

Dr. Miller presented to collaborate with World language teachers. Each teacher would bring one idea or activity to share with the group for a quick way to get some new ideas. They would bring handouts if possible which would describe their activity to give to other participants.

Mrs. Buckner & Dr. Hoy

In this session, Mrs. Buckner and Dr. Hoy presented on learning various ways to incorporate vocabulary in the science classroom.

Mr. Gipson

Mr. Gipson presented Jeopardy as a way to review content! This was used to create a fun and engaging game for students to play, while at the same time, assesing their knowledge and skills of the content teachers have already taught them. Mr. Gipson presented them with the tools to make that happen and pay Jeopardy with them.

Mrs. Sams Almodova

In this session, Mrs. Sams Almodova invited teachers to decompress from stress, while working on their flexibility with some gentle vinyasa yoga moves.

Mr. McLawhorn

In this session, Mr. McLawhorn presented on using Depth and Complexity Frames to draw attention to a particular feature of a piece of content, give a fresh alternative for formative assessment, and easily differentiate instruction in the classroom.

Mr. Hooper

This is a performance that demonstrated the vocal music programs at Dalton High School. This session was designed to raise awareness of the talented vocal music students we have at Dalton High School. The catamount singers are an ensemble that has been around for a long time. This was an opportunity to hear the choir perform and listen to them. This session was meant for all teachers interested in hearing beautiful music!

Mr. Witherow

This session focused on the steps involved in getting a doctorate with some helpful hints along the way. Topics included choosing a school, how to get through the coursework, picking a dissertation topic, selecting a committee, and all the way up to the dissertation defense.

Math/CTAE Night

Dalton High School hosted a Math & CTAE night for families on October 28, 2024. The purpose was to provide parents with information sessions on how they can support their students in their Math and CTAE classes and to let them know about the different clubs and opportunities offered at DHS. Parents also had the opportunity to learn about our CAT University program and become observers on CANVAS to keep up with their child's grades and progress.

DHS Drama Club

Congratulations to One Act for earning 2nd place this year! Congratulations to Kinsley Stephens and Hayden Poe for being our "ALL Star Cast" and to Ellis Stephens as Best Actor! We are proud of all of you!

National Art Honor Society

Students from the National Art Honor Society and Fine Arts programs at DHS went on an adventure to the Hunter Museum in Chattanooga. The students toured the exhibits and had some hands-on opportunities to explore art.

National Honor Society Induction

The Dalton High School Hale-Bowen Chapter of the National Honor Society held its annual induction ceremony for new members on the evening of November 6th. At DHS, senior students who meet certain qualifications are invited to join the chapter each September. Qualifications include a minimum GPA of 3.5 and membership requires a minimum of 30 volunteer hours.

Our chapter is proud to have been inducting new members for over 35 years and the ceremony indicates the continuing emphasis on excellence that we represent for our school and community. In addition to the strong academic records which established the eligibility for membership, our chapter members are leaders in many student organizations, and we serve our school and community through many activities.
