CURRICULUM NEWS FOR WEEK TWENTY
January 14th - January 18th
READING:
- Students will continue to analyze, make inferences, and draw conclusions about expository text, while providing evidence from the text to support their understanding.
- Student will use multiple text features to gain an overview of the contents of text and to locate information.
- Students will analyze the structure of an expository text, noting if a text is organized according to cause and effect, compare and contrast, sequence, or description.
WRITING:
- Students will begin a new expository essays. In grammar students will differentiate between simple, compound, and complex sentences and determine how to effectively craft each type of sentence in their expository essays.
MATH:
- Students will determine the approximate measures of angles in degrees to the nearest whole number using a protractor
- Students will determine the approximate measures of angles in degrees to the nearest whole number using a protractor.
- Students will classify two-dimensional figures based on the presence or absence of parallel or perpendicular lines or the presence or absence of angles of a specified size.
SCIENCE:
- Students will observe and identify slow changes to Earth's surface caused by weathering, erosion, and deposition from water, wind, and ice.
SOCIAL STUDIES:
- Students will explain when, where, and why the Spanish established settlements and missions, and identify the accomplishments of significant Empresarios.
