Head Teacher's Message
Well done to all Year 10 and Year 11 students for working incredibly hard during the last two weeks for their AP5/Mock GCSE exams. Sitting these under formal exam conditions is vital for their development and mental resilience when it comes to the final GCSEs. They are familiar with the routines around entering the examination halls, ensuring they have the correct equipment, seeing external invigilators; and above all the preparation and revision involved in each examination. Year 11 are now just 7 weeks away from their final examinations.
Elsewhere around school, over half of the cohort of Year 8 headed off on their three day PGL residential trip and what glorious weather they have had for it! We can't wait to hear about their adventures and experiences on their return.
Now that Spring is officially here, I do hope that this warmer weather stays with us. Hoping that you have a wonderful weekend.
~Ms K Dooley | Head Teacher

Jack Petchey - Speak Out Challenge
Following on from the Year 10 Jack Petchey Speak Out Challenge earlier in the term (see Newsletter 24 Jan 2025); last week saw the Richmond Regional Final. Schools from the local area came together for an evening celebrating their achievement and to hear their fantastic speeches. We were very proud to have two students representing RTS; and share our congratulations with all of the speakers for sharing their passions and thoughts. The speakers were judged by a panel who decided on a Regional Champion and all students were presented with a certificate by The Mayor, Councillor Richard Pyne.
Following on from the event, we were delighted to receive an email from one of judges:
I wanted to send a note to congratulate your two excellent speakers, Dylan and Erika. They both did a fantastic job. It was wonderful to hear about Dylan’s love for music, which he communicated so brilliantly. I was also very moved by Erika’s story, which she captured and structured very eloquently. I left really impressed with the quality of their speeches and I hope they feel very proud.
What a wonderful email to receive and congratulations to both students for truly representing RTS and our values.
