CELEBRATIONS
The CHS Choir Department hosted the “Christiansburg Strand Pyramid Concert” that included students from Belview, Falling Branch, Christiansburg Elementary, Christiansburg Middle, and Christiansburg High School.
The CHS Music Department hosted “Elementary Night at the Theatre” on Thursday, April 4 during the school day for elementary students to experience the CHS Band and Choir performing. They held two other performances for the community on Friday, April 5 and Saturday, April 6.
For the current Spring sports season, CHS has had some huge successes.! The varsity girls softball team is currently 13-2 (BEST RECORD in school history), the boys tennis team is 11-0 (BEST RECORD in school history), the boys soccer team is 8-3, the girls soccer team is 6-5, JV baseball is 7-6, JV softball is 8-4, JV boys soccer is 8-3, JV girls soccer is 7-5 and the boys and girls outdoor track teams have had some stellar performances throughout the season with multiple personal bests and schools records being broken!
The CHS Theatre Department hosted their annual “Pirates and Princesses” Event on Saturday, April 13 from 8:00 am - 1:00 pm.
CHS held their fourth quarter club meeting day on April 16, their final club meeting day of the school year.
CHS continues to have positive participation in their “All In” Tutoring Program that takes place on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 3-4:30 after school.
In an effort to encourage attendance for the last nine weeks of the school year, CHS has implemented an attendance incentive program for any student that attends every day for the full day during a week will be eligible to receive a $10.00 gift card to a local restaurant or fast food location. Currently, we are selecting three students from each grade level every week for the last nine weeks!
The CHS AP Government classes took a field trip to Washington DC where they were able to visit the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, WWII & Korean Memorials, MLK Memorial, and Jefferson Memorial. They were also able to visit the Capitol Building, The Smithsonian, Arlington National Cemetery, and were able to see some peaceful protesters in action.
The CHS Prom took place on April 20 with the theme of “Starry Night.” There were more than 450 + students in attendance and dancing the night away.
The PTSA hosted a successful CHS After Prom at the Christiansburg Recreation Center from 11:00 pm - 2:00 am.
MCPS STUDENT ATHLETE PHYSICALS
MCPS will be offering VHSL Student Athlete Physicals for $20.00 on Saturday, May 11 at Lewis Gale Montgomery Hospital from 12:00 - 4:00 pm. Student athletes will need to sign up for a time slot and this can be done by calling the CHS Main Office or signing up in the Main Office.

CHS MUSICAL - TUCK EVERLASTING
The CHS Music Department will be hosting "Tuck Everlasting" on May 10, 11, and 12. Showtimes for each of these dates are as follows:
May 10 - 7:00 pm
May 11 - 7:00 pm
May 12 - 3:00 pm
If you are planning to attend, the cost for admission is ??? and you may park in the Auditorium or Gymnasium Parking lots. If you park in the Auditorium parking lot, please enter through Door 30 (Loading Dock Entrance). If you park in the Gymnasium parking lot, please enter through Door #9 (Main Entrance).

CHROMEBOOK COLLECTION
At the end of the 2023-24 school year, ALL STUDENTS will be expected to turn their Chromebooks into the library for the summer. Chromebooks will be redistributed at the start of the 2024-25 school year.
It is important to note that Seniors MUST turn in their Chromebooks and chargers prior to their last day of instruction, which is Friday, May 10.
MCPS Division Literacy Plan
MCPS is seeking the community's feedback on our Division Birth-12 Literacy Plan. Please complete this brief form to provide the Division Literacy Team with feedback to assist us as we continue to develop the division's plan.
NEW SUMMER SCHOOL COURSES
If you student would like to take a course in Summer School that they have not yet taken, please take an opportunity to review the attached form and select the course they are interested in taking.
Please note, this form is ONLY for students who are taking the listed courses as a "NEW" course. This means, they have not yet taken the course during their high school academic career.
Students can be enrolled in these classes by contacted or speaking with their school counselor. Please note that your child will not be enrolled in the class until payment is received. Payment for H/PE9, English 12, and Government can be made at the CHS Main Office by May 24th. Economics and Personal Finance can be paid for directly through Virtual Virginia (link) by June 4th once your student is enrolled.
REPEAT SUMMER SCHOOL COURSES
Summer School will take place from May 29 - June 20. Students will meet Monday-Thursday from 9:15 am - 1:15 pm and will be held at Montgomery Central.
SENIOR AWARDS CEREMONY
The CHS Class of 2024 Senior Awards Ceremony will take place on Friday, May 10 from 10:00 - 11:30 pm in the CHS Auditorium.
We understand that parking on campus for this event will be extremely difficult, so we are pleased to announce that VASAP, Horne Funeral Home, and the Holy Spirit Catholic Church have given permission for us to utilize their parking lots during the time of the ceremony.
We will send out additional communications about where to enter the building and parking directions as we get closer to the time of the event.
GRADUATION UPDATE
The date of graduation will be on Saturday, May 18 at 11:30 am. We realize the change in venue is a shift from our normal graduation practices, but due to our current status at CHS, this will allow us to have unlimited admittance of family members and friends for our graduates, significant parking opportunities, and a space that will not be affected by the change if inclement weather should arise.
Please reference the attached UPDATED "Senior Letter" for numerous important items that pertain to your Senior students. The letter includes specific details about graduation practice, graduation day, parking on VT's campus, seating at Cassell Coliseum, and much more.
END OF COURSE SPRING (NON-WRITING) SOLS
The last instructional day of the 2024 Spring Semester will be Friday, May 17. End of Course SOL testing is scheduled to take place on May 20, 21, and 22 for students. Please review the attached letter for additional information and details regarding the schedule and expectations for the EOC testing window.
This is a reminder that only students who are testing need to attend on May 20 - 22. Those students will be informed by their classroom teachers. It is also important to note that your child will not be allowed to take their non-writing SOL's prior to May 20. Any student who misses their SOL will have to take in the next test administration.
