Principal's Message

Greeting families,

I hope you enjoy this three-day weekend with your family.

Last week we did our monthly fire drill without any incidents. Remember, we do this drill at the beginning of each month. This drill helps us practice how to evacuate the building securely in case it is ever needed. We will also practice severe weather and lockdown drills this semester. It is our goal to do it between now and mid-February.

Remember, this month is parent-teacher conferences. The district's official day is January 23rd, but we will follow the same procedures we did last time to ensure we can accommodate all of you. For most classes, your child's teacher will hold the conferences between January 17th and 27th. Please, contact your child's teacher if you need assistance.

PTO is coordinating a meeting in February. They will share more details via their newsletter, class dojo, and my newsletter soon.

Last, as the application period will close at the end of the month, I added the 2023-2024 Sibling Lottery FAQ to the resources you can use section so that you can review it one more time before the end of the window. Notice that each picture has a number, so if you recognize an item, you can call us at the office and let us know which numbered item belongs to your children. Of course, you can also stop by the office to pick it up

Social and Emotional Learning (S.E.L)

We are proud to be a campus that works in Social and Emotional practices with our students. Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) builds the skills, knowledge, and attitudes that both students and adults need to be successful in school, work, and life. They include things such as knowing and controlling your emotions, teamwork, understanding others, making positive choices, and resilience.

As you may have heard, flu cases have spiked and many urgent care centers as well as ER departments are overwhelmed with the surge of RSV and respiratory illnesses. Many schools are also experiencing an excessive number of absences. By partnering with Children’s Health School-Based Telehealth they can offer your students easy and convenient access to health care in both school and home settings.

Through the School Telehealth program, they also offer flu and strep testing, at no additional cost to families. The school nurses deliver the tests during the telehealth exam.
