Teacher Appreciation Week!
May 6-10 is Teacher Appreciation Week. We are very grateful for the teachers and staff here at Shoemaker High School who work hard to create a sense of community and belonging on campus. Please take a moment to write a note to a teacher who has helped you during your time at Shoemaker.

Volunteers
Last month, we celebrated our volunteers at the KISD Volunteer Luncheon. Shoemaker High School was honored as a high school for the Senior Citizen with the most hours, Mr. Barbosa, and the community organization with the most hours in a high school, BOSS Mentor Program. Additionally, Dr. Lanxon, Shoemaker Assistant Principal, was recognized as the Helping Hands volunteer of the district for all of the work he does coordinating Special Olympics.
Outside of the district's organized luncheon, we recognized some of our stand-out volunteers on campus. Mr. Rashad Brown is an amazing volunteer who works with our athletics program. He spends countless hours assisting coaches and students alike. He has a heart of gold and gives selflessly day in and day out.
Monika De La Riva and Deijah Gresham were also awarded certificates of appreciation for the many hours they spent decorating, organizing, and working in the Prom Boutique where they gave away over 70 dresses to girls throughout the district. They truly have servants' hearts and embraced the spirit of volunteerism. We are lucky to have them.
