Transitional Transfer Window for 5th Graders
Fifth-graders may apply for Transitional Transfer for the 2025-26 school year beginning Nov. 1, 2024.
SPS fifth-graders have the opportunity to request a Transitional Transfer for the 2025-2026 school year to a middle school of their choice that is open to transfers. Students interested in this option may submit requests between 7:30 a.m., Friday, Nov. 1, and 5:00 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6.
This type of transfer is offered as part of Springfield Public Schools’ open enrollment option. If your child plans to attend the middle school assigned to them based on the student’s home address, no action is needed.
If your child is on transfer to a current elementary school and you would like for them to attend the connected middle school you will need to submit a request to transitionally transfer to that middle school.
The transitional transfer request form for the 2025-2026 school year must be completed electronically. Requests are granted on a first come, first served basis determined by an electronic time/date stamp.
If your student is interested, visit www.sps.org/transfers to learn more.

We are SNOW THANKFUL you are here!
This was our attendance turkey just one week ago.
Look at all of those feathers!
Here is our attendance turkey now. After only 1 week, we have had over 200 students who have had at least 4 days of perfect attendance.
Wow! We have had an awesome starts to our attendance challenge. As a reminder, for every 4 days a student has perfect attendance (at school from bell to bell) they will get to add a feather to the turkey and will receive an attendance prize.
Cookie Decorating Party
In addition to the "We are SNOW THANKFUL you are here" challenge we are going to celebrate students who have great attendance by having a cookie decorating party on December 20th. Any student who has 95% attendance or higher at the end of our current attendance challenge will be invited to attend. In order for a student to qualify to attend the cookie party, they can miss no more than 1.5 days of school from November 6th-December 20th.
Teacher/Staff Shout Outs
A Deeper Dive into Each Brain State
The Survival State: "Am I Safe?"
The only way to soothe the survival state is through the creation of safety.
In a survival state where we feel triggered by threat, these skills are flight, fight or surrender. We can’t think clearly when a tiger is chasing us. In the modern world, the tiger may be a disrespectful person, but our brain’s evolutionary skill set is the same: fight, flight or surrender.
