Welcome:
CEO Note
Daylight is short, which means there’s plenty of time to curl up with a good book
morning and evening. We’ve got plenty of books here, so don’t hesitate to come in and
stock up.
We hope you’ll join us for our Reading is a Gift gathering on the 21st. We’ll have a hot
chocolate bar, free books for every kid and teen who attends (to keep!), and a small gift
for the first 50 adults too. For more details, ask a library staff member.
We do have some holiday hours toward the end of the month, so check the schedule
before you come. We’ll be closed for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s
Day. We’ll close at 6:00 PM on Thursday the 26th , and we’ll close at 2:00 PM on
Tuesday the 31st .
Wishing you much joy this season!
Amie P.
Library CEO

We're excited to host two great causes at the library! You can drop off food donations for the House of Neighborly Service's "Have a Heart" food drive, or brighten someone’s holiday with toy donations for the "Santa Medics" toy drive by Thompson Valley Emergency Medical Services.
Food donations are being accepted until December 21st, and toys can be dropped off through December 14th. Come join us in giving back this season!

Seneca's “On the Shortness of Life”
First century Romans, like modern folk, apparently complained about human life being too short. In this book Seneca responds to that complaint by arguing that life is long enough if you don't waste your time in worthless pursuits. This would all be empty platitudes but that he goes on to describe how we should spend our time so that we enjoy our lives and don't dread our deaths. Let's see what we can learn!
Join us for a participant-driven discussion of this provocative essay! Visit this link: https://sites.google.com/view/berthoud-philosophy/home for the reading materials and to register.
Registration is required.
Book Club
Join us for book club on December 11th at 2:30PM & 6:30PM. We will be discussing the book James by Percival Everett.
Feel free to get started on January & February's books too!

- February 26th: The Language of Flowers by Vanessa Diffenbaugh
Mingling with Our Muses: A Writers Workshop
For this special session of Writers Group, you and your muse are invited to mingle with other forms of writing. Like actual hermit crabs–born without shells of their own–we’ll “borrow” items and use them to wrap up our 2024 writing. Then we’ll find fresh ways to connect a new year of words with our muses. Writers will leave with one completed hermit crab piece and the start of a second one. No experience with this form required!
This workshop will be taught by author Jesaka Long from the Lighthouse Writers Workshop on December 16th at 10:30AM. Call (970) 532-2757 to register.
Game Night
Join us for Game Night on December 18th from 6:00-7:30PM. Bring your own game or use one of ours!
Per our lovely patron's requests, we've acquired sets of some of your favorite classic games: backgammon, chess and cribbage!
Ranger Talk: Winter Preparation & Ice Safety
Join us for an informative and engaging evening with Lt. Stephen J. Gibson, Horsetooth District Manager for Larimer County Natural Resources, on December 19th at 6 PM.
He’ll be sharing essential tips on winter preparation and ice safety, helping you and your family stay safe and enjoy the season to the fullest.
Whether you're planning outdoor adventures or just curious about the winter landscape, this is a must-attend event!
Knit & Crochet Drop-In
Knit & Crochet Drop-in will meet this Friday the 27th of December from 1-3PM.
This is not a class, just a place for fellow crafters to meet and knit/crochet together. This is a drop-in event.
Writer's Group
Join us as we free-write, critique, and hone our craft together.
All genres of writing welcome. We meet Mondays from 10:30AM to 11:45AM.
Mingling with Our Muses: A Writers Workshop on December 16th at 10:30AM does require registration.
Saturday Sketch Hour
Join us for Saturday Sketch Hour each Saturday from 11AM-12PM! This is an hour for artists of any age and skill level to come and practice, and to learn from each other.
