DHS Class of 2024 Salutatorian!
As we count down to graduation, it's our pleasure to introduce you to Mr. Walker Morgan Allen, Dublin High School's Class of 2024 Salutatorian.
The son of Jeff & Tamara Allen, he has been part of the Fighting Irish Family since 10th Grade. He is an active member of Dublin High School’s Beta Club and was part of the Baseball Team in 11th Grade, earning the team’s Highest Junior GPA Award. Throughout his high school career, Allen took 19 dual enrollment classes, repeatedly finding himself on the President’s List at Georgia Military College. In addition to earning his high school diploma, he will graduate this May with an associate degree in Business Administration from GMC.
Allen’s still deciding which university he will attend; however, he plans to major in Business Management and work full-time. The young entrepreneur not only works alongside his dad at the family business, Southern Yell, but also launched a car detailing product line on his 17th birthday. Called Walker’s Formula 4, the business specializes in washes, waxes, tire degreasers and more.
In addition to his studies and strenuous work schedule, Allen enjoys spending time outdoors - hunting, fishing and riding four-wheelers.
Fighting Irish Family, join us in congratulating our Salutatorian on his phenomenal academic journey thus far. And, if you’re interested in learning more about his products, Allen said to give him a call at (478)279-7005.
Dublin High School Class of 2024 Valedictorian!
As we count down to graduation, it's our pleasure to introduce you to Ms. Ka’Rethya Shantrell Charleston, Dublin High School-Georgia's #ClassOf2024 Valedictorian.
The daughter of Shannon and Terrance Timmons, she is a lifelong member of the Fighting Irish Family, having previously attended Susie Dasher Elementary The STEAM School, Dublin Middle School and the Irish Gifted Academy. Charleston is a member of Dr. Williams’ Student Advisory Council as well as Dublin High School’s Student Government Association, Beta Club, Math Team and Auxiliary Team. The full International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme candidate has taken all Irish Honors Academy classes, including five dual enrollment classes - a feat that means she will begin school this fall as a college Sophomore.
In addition to her studies, Charleston is a member of the City of Dublin Youth Council, receiving their highest community service hours award. She’s also been part of Morris Bank and Citizen’s Bank Youth Advisory Councils and works at Chick-fil-A Dublin. The winner of Dublin High School’s Highest Average Award in both her Sophomore and Junior years, Charleston is also the proud recipient of the Daughters of the American Revolution Scholarship and the Morris Bank Scholarship. She is also part of the QuestBridge National Scholars Program. Furthermore, Charleston is a member of Liberty Church where she is actively involved in their Youth Program and Weekly Bible Studies.
Charleston - who will be a first generation college student - is still trying to decide whether she will attend the University of Georgia or Mercer University; however, she’s been offered a slot in both universities' Honors Colleges and plans to major in Biology as part of their Pre-Medicine track and minor in Political Science.
Fighting Irish Family, we know you join us in congratulating Ka’Rethya on her stellar high school career and the outstanding achievement of being named first in her class.
Along with Charleston, Dublin High School’s Class of 2024 will be turning their tassels on Friday, May 24th at 6:00 PM in Dublin High School’s Gymnasium.
Ra'Nyya Washington - Award for Accepting the Challenge of Excellence!
Ra’Nyya Washington may have attended six middle schools and five high schools, but she didn’t let the challenges life sent her way stop her from excelling!
Just yesterday, the Dublin High School-Georgia Senior broke a school record and was named the Region Champion in Triple Jump. And, earlier this month, she was named the Lady Irish Basketball Team’s Defensive Player of the Year. So, it’s no surprise this phenomenal young woman added an additional accolade to her growing resume during today’s Stepping Stone Annual Child Abuse Prevention Luncheon - Winner of the Dublin Exchange Club's A.C.E Award for Accepting the Challenge of Excellence!
As both her school winner and Laurens County’s district nominee, she received a $1,000 scholarship, which will certainly come in handy as Washington decides what’s next. Washington currently has several college offers on the table, but regardless of where she ultimately decides to attend, owning her own hair salon is a goal she’s working hard to meet. And thanks to her time in the Dublin City Schools College and Career Academy’s Cosmetology Pathway, her dream can become a reality even sooner.
In attention to praising her Cosmetology Teacher, Mrs. Martin, Washington said a Dublin High School staff member that’s had a lasting impact on her life is Mrs. Coney-Carter.
“She sees a lot of potential in me,” said Washington. “She knows I’m trying to balance a lot and constantly reminds me to stay on top of it. She really encourages me to maintain my school work along with my love of Cosmetology and sports.”
Fighting Irish Family, join us in congratulating Ra’Nyya for representing our district with honor, integrity, heart and determination! And, be sure to give her an extra cheer when she walks across that stage and earns her high school diploma on May 24th!
