Principal's Message
It was nice to see so many faces at today's Chromebook pickup. Just a reminder that if you needed a device and weren't able to pick one up today, you will be able to come to Mansfield High School, Tuesday from 12:00pm to 3:00pm.
This newsletter contains additional activities and resources, similar to the previous communications. Thank you for the Corny Joke submissions. They have brightened our days! Enjoy a few of them below.
Stay tuned for additional communication regarding more structured, grade-level curriculum activities, next week.
Please stay safe and healthy.
Take care,
John Nieratko

The Vandalur Zoo in India has several live cams. Due to the large difference in time, we're sleeping when they're awake so the best times to watch their cams are around 7:00am or 8:30pm Mansfield time. Hippo Cam and Indian Gaur Cam

STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Challenge!
This week's challenges! Our goal is to find challenges that are engaging but do not require a lot of materials, particularly ones that you may have easily accessible at home or you can easily substitute with whatever you have handy.

77 Simple Stem Activities for Families

The dailySTEM is a website focusing on inspiring kids to engage with STEM in the real world. Here are some of their ideas for doing STEM at home:
BOKS
Though school is closed, the BOKS team has been working hard to bring you the best at-home activities to keep your kids active and healthy. As such, they will be offering Facebook LIVE BOKS classes each week day at 12PM, and the best news is that anyone can join in the fun! Please join some of the wonderful BOKS Trainers at www.facebook.com/boks each weekday for a fun dose of physical activity for you and your kids. If you aren’t able to join the events at that time, don’t worry, the workouts will remain on the BOKS Facebook page and can be watched at your convenience. We hope you have fun with these workouts and can’t wait to continue with our BOKS classes in the future. In the meantime, you can also checkout BOKS' ABC Workout below.
Developing Schedules While We're Home
Kids need structure. Schedules achieve this. Your little learners may resist at first, but they will thrive with order, and so will you. For older kids (five and up), co-create the schedule. Think: orange post-its are required learning (maths, reading, science) and yellow posts-it are fun (TV, iPad). Parent picks two, kid picks two. Exercise, some mindfulness, art, drama, and music can all get time slots too. Where possible, make following a schedule fun—ideally, switching tasks shouldn’t feel like a drill but like an opportunity. Create your own template or feel free to edit this schedule: Daily Schedule Template
