We have been amazed and excited to watch this project grow and to know other students will have an opportunity to share their stories!

Wiley H. Bates Celebrations this Week
School Principals Day
This year she was dedicated to making sure we preserve the history and namesake of our school which was shown through the school's name unveiling event. She also has continued to grow the Bates Story Project where her goal is to emphasize the importance of building relationships between students and staff. She also encourages constant community involvement and activities for the students and their families. With her leadership, Wiley H. Bates is more than just a school but a family.
Please remind your students, when they see Ms. Hicks, to please stop her and thank her for all she does!

You can read more about what each role entails here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1GG0pqBi6ECXPV4lq8BOO6wQNrbKNBzuAs_adOlLVcK8/edit?usp=sharing
Without volunteers to take over leadership of the PTA, our organization will cease to exist! Please consider taking on a role. Last Day of School for Wiley H. Bates Students
June 10th!
Due to our school's large HVAC replacement project and to allow time for staff to pack up and move their classrooms to accommodate the next phase of this project, we have asked for and received a one-day waiver both for the end of this year and the beginning of next year.
Barring any further closures for weather or other emergencies, the last day of school for students at Wiley H. Bates Middle School for the 2023-2024 school year will be Monday, June 10, 2024, one day earlier than other students in the school system.
The first day of classes for Wiley H. Bates Middle School students for the 2024-2025 school year will be Tuesday, August 27, 2024, one day later than other county schools. We will begin the year on the school system’s traditional staggered schedule, with sixth graders beginning classes on August 27, 2024, and all other students beginning classes on August 28, 2024.
