Happy December!
STAR and FAST testing is from Dec 2nd -19th for all VPK - 5th Grade students. Please ensure that your student(s) attend school each day, and on time.
Two Important Reminders (but see all of our upcoming events listed below):
- Thu, Dec 12th – Winter Fest from 5:30-7:30pm – this is a combination of all of our weather-related cancelled events = Book Fair, Content Night, Story Night, Title 1 Annual Meeting PLUS concerts – Kindergarten at 5:45, 2nd Grade at 6:15, and 5th Grade at 6:45. Save the date now for this great event for the whole family 😊
- Monday, January 6th - STUDENTS RETURN TO SCHOOL *this is being utilized as one of the Hurrican Make-Up days.

Ways to help your student with reading at home:
- who are the characters?
- where & when is the setting?
- what are the actions/events?
- how the character has changed over time?
- why do you like or dislike the book?
- what was the author's purpose?

Dreambox Math
Kindergarten - 2nd Grade students are expected to complete 5 Dreambox lessons per week independently.
3rd - 5th Grade students are expected to complete 10 Dreambox lessons per week independently.
I-Station - ELA
Students take a monthly assessment which provides important information about their progress in ELA. They are then provided lessons specific to their needs. It is important that students spend 30 minutes per week on their I-Station pathway.

All student absences should be sent in via the "Report Student Absence" on our school website. You could also call or send an email to Mrs. Diaz at727-547-7857 ext. 2007 or diazl@pcsb.org or upload documentation into FOCUS.
Calendar of Dates / Events
- • Dec 9–13 – Book Fair in the Media Center – it will be open for students daily and for families at the evening event and on Friday for Lunch with Loved Ones
- • Dec 9-13 we will also have the Penguin Patch Holiday Shop. It is a fun way for students to shop for family members and experience the spirit of giving while learning to earn, budget, and save! Your student will have over 100 delightful gifts to choose from, all ranging in price from $0.50 to $12. This is an amazing opportunity to empower your student to choose, purchase, and give gifts to their loved ones!
- • Thu, Dec 12th – Winter Fest from 5:30-7:30pm – this will be a wonderful evening of fun, learning, shopping, and concerts – Kindergarten at 5:45, 2nd Grade at 6:15, and 5th Grade at 6:45. Save the date now for this great event for the whole family 😊

Lunch with Loved Ones
Fridays on-going **Must bring your Drivers License or other ID** and be listed on your child's FOCUS account.
You may eat lunch outside with your child (and only your child - no friends, sorry) at one of our picnic tables. Media Center is only for use in the event of rain. Please be sure to arrive early to give time for the signing-in process.

New information regarding birthday celebrations:
***We no longer can allow families to send in birthday treats/cupcakes/cookies/etc. We must follow the “Smart Snack” compliance which is a part of statute. Two options...you could send in a gift bag of toys/fidgets/party favors for the classmates to take home OR you could put additional funds on their child’s account to allow them to purchase the “Smart Snack” compliant treats through our Café treats for the whole class on that Friday of their birthday week.***
