Principal's Report - Phillip Reavis
Welcome Back & Thank You
On behalf of the faculty and staff, I want to welcome parents and students back to school for 2018 and the beginning of the second semester! My family and I had a restful and celebratory Winter Break! I hope yours was the same. As we enter the second half of the year, I wanted to thank parents in advance for your ongoing efforts in support of your child’s/children’s education. Simple things like checking book bags at night, monitoring student grades (grades 2-5) through the Parent Portal, attending parent/teacher conferences, and talking about the day at school play such a vital role in the success of students. I encourage everyone to recommit yourselves to these simple yet powerful parent responsibilities as we enter the new calendar year and the second half of the school year. You’re doing great! Keep it up!
#OnlyAtOakview
Are you on Instagram? Oakview’s Instagram page went live in the summer of 2017 with 262 followers to date. With the new year now upon us, we wanted to encourage new followers. To build excitement, all faculty, staff, and students will be given a #OnlyAtOakview bracelet to wear. We hope you will join us on Instagram as we share with the rest of the world the amazing things going on “only at Oakview.” Hoot, hoot!
Registration for 2018-2019
New kindergarten students for next fall can be registered NOW! The first window to register new kindergarten students for next fall was a few weeks ago in December but it’s not too late. In order to staff Oakview classrooms for next August, it is important to have all new students enrolled right away as Greenville County Schools makes enrollment/staff projections for next year. All the necessary forms to enroll are posted on the school’s web site. Thank you.
For Children,
Phillip Reavis, Ph.D.
Principal
Letter from the PTA President
Welcome to 2018! As a Georgia Bulldog fan, it was a whirlwind of a break with a big win in the Rose Bowl and then a heartbreaker Monday night in the Championship Game. But we enjoyed the ride and are thankful to have survived the travels. I hope you and your team had a wonderful break and were able to enjoy spending time together!
The PTA has an exciting 2018 planned with several new activities and the culmination of our playground project projected for completion Spring Break! As always, thank you for your support and I look forward to finishing the school year strong with each and every one of you!
For Children,
Jennifer Burns
PTA President
