The Tuesday Notice
December 10, 2024
Dear Siskiyou School Families,
I hope this message finds you well as we enter this festive season!
A heartfelt thank you for Winter Faire
I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to all the amazing volunteers who worked tirelessly to make this year’s Winter Faire such a magical success. Your dedication and countless hours of effort truly made all the difference. The joy and wonder of the event were felt by all, and we couldn’t have done it without you. Thank you for your invaluable contributions always!
Teacher and Staff Gift Fund
The Teacher and Staff Gift Fund is now open! This is a wonderful opportunity to express our collective appreciation for the incredible team that nurtures and inspires our children every day. Please stop by this week or next to sign the cards and make a donation. These contributions will be combined to provide a special holiday bonus for all our employees as a token of our gratitude for their hard work and dedication.
Annual Giving Campaign
We’re also excited to share that our Annual Giving Campaign is ongoing. Thanks to our early donators, we’ve already reached 15% of our goal of $115,000. With just a few weeks left in the year, we hope to see this number grow significantly. Every contribution makes a meaningful impact, helping to support our programs and the overall growth of our school community.
Thank you for being such an essential part of what makes our community so special. It is such a pleasure to spend time with your children every day!
Warm regards,
Katherine

We are excited to see you at our all-school Winter Assembly. At Winter Assembly grades 1 through 8 will bring presentations of music, verse, and movement. The evening ends with the whole community singing together. All students are expected to attend and to come dressed in their best for this celebration.
IMPORTANT DETAILS:
- Where is it? Thanks to the generous contributions from some in our community, we are able to hold our assembly at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival's Angus Bowmer Theatre in downtown Ashland at 20 E Main St, Ashland, OR 97520.
- When is it? The program starts at 6:00 p.m. and is generally an hour and a half. Seating will begin around 5:45.
- Who is involved? Students from grades 1 through 8 with the help of our dedicated faculty and staff. Our kindergarten is not performing this evening and may sit with their parents. This year, because of our location, we're able to welcome friends and family to be in our audience.
Two details for now:
- Please note that there will be a bag inspection upon entering the Bowmer Theatre.
- If your child will NOT be joining us, please let us know!

Class 1 - Mrs. McNamara
Greetings from the 1st Grade Classroom!
Through the fall we have learned all the consonants of the alphabet through stories and fairy tales! We heard the story that long ago people could not communicate well with each other, because they had not received the gifts of the vowels. During this beautiful advent time, the five angels are coming to bring to the 1st grade the singing sounds – the vowels. Anna brought the “A”, Elias brought the “E” and Inuk brought the “I”. In the coming days two more angels will visit us with the gifts of “O” and “U”. Finally we can now make short words and this is very exciting for us.
We are preparing for the Winter Assembly, we are making seasonal crafts, and we are enjoying lighting the advent candles on the wreath every day and singing beautiful songs! It is incredible to see how much our little first graders have grown since the start of school! 25 teeth have been lost since we started school! Every school day is rich and filled with much learning. I’m deeply grateful for the Waldorf curriculum; it is such a gift for the children.
With warmth and light, Mrs. McNamara
Our community classifieds are posted as a service to our Siskiyou School families and our broader community. If you would like to include something in the classifieds, email your text (a few lines in length) or an image file (png or jpg only), to kristin.beers@siskiyouschool.org no later than Monday by 3:00 pm. We may edit it for space purposes. Classifieds are included for two weeks, require a break for a week, and then can be renewed upon request.
Chess Club Update
Hello everyone. After a couple of weeks off for Thanksgiving and Winter Faire, we are back in session this Friday, December 13th, our last meeting of 2024.
Please email me if your child plans to attend so I can setup in Pine Hall if numbers necessitate.
Look for a longer update next week for details around the return of weekly Chess Club once we are back from winter break.
Thank you, Mr. Monda.
Sublet Available
Hello! We have a wonderful kid friendly house close to the Siskiyou School just south of Ashland that we are looking to sublet from the end of December for up to six months. It sits on some acerage and is very relaxing and peaceful and a quick drive to town. We have 2 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms available and if needed, can also make an additional bedroom and a small office space open as well.
Our House comes with a cat- an amazing, loving, kind companion named Pumpkin- who you can enjoy as you would like or simply support her basic needs of getting in and out and being fed. She will be fine either way- she is independent and cuddly!.
This is our home, so we are only looking for a good fit and are flexible arrangements - maybe renting for less time for the right person, people, or family, who we feel good about.
Please reach out to us or share with anyone you trust who might be interested - Helaine.alon@gmail.com or 6175133536
Best, Greg and Helaine (6th grade parents)
