TWO MESSAGES FROM OUR CHIEF CULTURE OFFICERS
Purple Shirts and Black Shirts
Dear Parents and Scholars,
As we progress through the new academic year, we want to address the challenges and imperfections we encountered during Quarter 1 in our Class Dojo implementation. These issues may have inadvertently affected scholars' points and percentages. In response, we have assessed the situation and decided to make a temporary adjustment for Quarter 1.
For Quarter 1 only, we will temporarily remove the Class Dojo requirement for Purple Shirts and Black Shirts. Instead, scholars will need to meet the following criteria:
- Maintain a GPA of 93% or higher.
- Have no record of suspensions during the quarter.
- Accumulate no more than one Full Withdrawal.
- Accumulate no more than one Life's Work Withdrawal.
Starting from Quarter 2 and beyond, we will reintroduce the Class Dojo requirement as part of our overall approach to scholar recognition and behavior management. Please note that this adjustment is specific to Quarter 1 and will allow us to refine the Dojo system for a more seamless experience.
We appreciate your understanding and flexibility during this transition. We aim to provide a fair and consistent framework for parents and scholars throughout this academic year. Thank you for your ongoing support, and let's work together for a successful year.
Best regards,
Candice Terry - Elementary School Chief of Culture
Anthony Staton - Middle School Chief of Culture
Dress Down/Jean Day Dress Code Guidelines
At Milwaukee College Prep, both our staff and scholars are expected to dress appropriately for casual days. Dress down/jean days will be designated on specific days announced and determined by the school, while uniforms are strictly enforced on all other school days. The attire staff and scholars choose should not pose a distraction to the learning environment and should be comfortable for all school activities. Our primary focus is the education of our scholars, and clothing should never hinder this purpose.
Clothing must cover all undergarments and the midriff. Any attire that disrupts the learning environment will be reported to the administration, and appropriate actions will be taken to address the dress code violation. Logos or garments promoting or advertising alcohol, drugs, tobacco, gang affiliation, nudity, profanity, violence, and/or containing inappropriate imagery or slogans are strictly prohibited and may be confiscated.
For dress down days/jean days, the following dress code guidelines must be adhered to:
Tops:
- All shirts must have sleeves.
- Shirts must not reveal any areas of the waist or upper body (no cleavage).
- The midriff must remain covered at all times.
Bottoms:
- Pants for all genders must conceal undergarments at all times.
- Pants for all genders must be worn at the waist (no sagging pants).
- Shorts must be at least fingertip length for both staff and scholars.
- Skirts must also be at least fingertip length.
- Jeans/pants that require lacing are not permitted.
- No holes of any size above the knee are allowed (whether patched or otherwise).
- Leggings are not to be worn without being covered past the hip
Footwear:
- Shoes/footwear must be worn at all times on school grounds.
- Shoes/footwear requiring laces must be tied.
- Shoes/footwear with straps must be fastened.
- Heel height on shoes/footwear should not exceed 2 inches.
Additionally, the following items are not allowed:
- Tank tops or sleeveless shirts
- Pajamas
- Lounge pants
- Bedroom shoes/slippers
- Bandanas, hats, headscarves, or "doo rags"
- Sunglasses and non-prescription eyewear (unless instructed otherwise)
- Chains, spiked jewelry, or spiked accessories, including belts
Please be aware that the school reserves the right to address new fashion trends not mentioned in this document as they become available to our staff and scholar community. All fashions must be appropriate for a minor-aged, educational setting.
Thank You,
Candice Terry - Elementary School Chief of Culture
Anthony Staton - Middle School Chief of Culture
A MESSAGE FROM OUR SCHOOL NURSE
Monitoring for Illness
As the weather changes and school is in full swing, please remember that we ask you to be vigilant in monitoring your children for illnesses. We are still screening for COVID-19. If your scholar is absent with any of the symptoms listed below, they should be tested for COVID-19:
Fever
Cough
Congestion
Shortness of breath
Loss of sense of taste or smell
Diarrhea
Vomiting
Nausea
Runny nose
Nasal congestion
Abdominal pain
Fatigue
Muscle aches
Chills

Headache
We have tests at school available for your child; please email covid19@milwcollegeprep.com for more information.
Several other illnesses exhibit similar symptoms: RSV, influenza, strep throat, pink eye, hand foot and mouth, among others. Your child should stay home until symptoms resolve and they are fever-free for 24 hours without using fever-reducing medication.
Our goal is to keep everyone in our buildings healthy and safe. If you prefer your child to wear a mask, although it is not required, please provide them with one. You, as parents and guardians, are our first line of defense.
