Team Curington: One Team, One Dream
Principal's Corner
Hello, Curington Families!
We hope your weekend has been restful! Last week, two special authors visited some of our classes. Our librarian, Ms. Boddie, coordinated this visit with the Boerne Public Library. Dr. Carmen Tafolla and Diana Lopez are two authors known for bringing creative writing and culture to the next level. They have authored many children's books. Our students had a chance to listen to two wonderful authors read the books they had written in recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month.
We want to thank our families for supporting our campus goal of having 96% of our students or higher at school each day! This past week, our average daily attendance went down just a bit.
Next week will be a four-day week as we head into Fall Break. However, it is the final week of the first nine-week grading period, so it is very important to have our Cougars here at school so they can finish strong! We are working hard to earn our next campus incentive goal!
Save the date for our Walk-A-Thon fundraiser on October 25th! Information to families has already been sent out. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact our front office so that we can send your names to our Walk-A-Thon committee leaders.
Lastly, we are in need of five parent volunteers to support us in being part of the district Budget School Advisory Committee. More information is provided below. If you are interested in representing our school for this committee, please email our Principal's Secretary- Celia.Moreno@Boerneisd.net .
Have a great week!
Go Cougars!

News from Mrs. Boddie
Attending School Regularly
Students who attend school regularly have been shown to achieve higher levels than students who do not have regular attendance.
- Excused or unexcused absences represent lost time in the classroom and lost opportunities to learn.
- Official attendance times are 10am for Elementary and 10:30am for Secondary.
- Appointments should be scheduled at the start or end of the school day to be counted as D=Doctor Appointment Same Day and not as an absence. Students must be present a portion of the day for a D absence code.
- If the student is out the entire day, they are absent.
- Every student's situation is different. If there are barriers keeping your student from being at school, please reach out to us.
Tutors, Crossing Guards and Dads on Duty
We would like to invite anyone interested in tutoring, volunteering, crossing guard after school opportunity or becoming a Dad on Duty to contact our school or email our principal's secretary (Celia.Moreno@Boerneisd.net) for more information. All visitors must have completed a volunteer background from which can be found in our Boerne ISD website page.
Birthday Treats
We are excited to celebrate student birthdays at school this year. All birthday treats must be store-bought and individually wrapped if possible or in the original container from the store.
We highly encourage you to purchase birthday snacks that are prepackaged. Here are some examples: rice crispies, granola bars, fruit snacks, or even non-edible snacks such as stickers, pencils, and bookmarkers. This allows our teachers to distribute items efficiently.
Birthday celebrations for our students will take place during the last 10 minutes of the instructional day. Students will also have their names announced in our morning announcements and will receive a birthday pencil from the front office.
All foods brought to campus for special occasions such as birthdays MUST have an FDA approved label with ingredients and allergens legibly listed.
Please email your child's teacher three days in advance so that they can plan accordingly. We ask that you drop off items before 10 am. (The pictures above are examples of prepackaged treats. These brands are not required to be purchased.)
