Eagles' Extra

Highlights of the Week
We had a fun filled four day week, and have another one planned starting Tuesday as well. This past Monday our school hosted the very first Donalda Eagles' View Coulee Run, where we had 175 runners from Big Valley, Botha, Erskine, and Byemoor join us for the day. The weather was perfect, and seeing all the colors in the trees and the view of the coulee from the trails was absolutely gorgeous. I want to say a few thank yous. First, thank you to the Parent Council for providing a concession. Also a thank you to the Donalda & District Agricultural Society for providing us access to the trails. And a huge thank you to Mrs. Norman for organizing the day. I am sure that this will be an annual event for years to come!
Our boys' and girls' volleyball teams were back in action at home against Erskine this week. It is great to see both teams battle in close games. The boys were a little shy of capturing a win, while the girls were able to nudge out a "W". This week our teams are at home against Christ King. Go Eagles!
On Thursday, we took part of the afternoon to participate in a whole school activity to recognize National Truth & Reconcilation Day, also known as Orange Shirt Day. Mrs. Andersson, our school's Indigenous Lead, organized our time together and did a fantastic job of helping us gain a stronger understanding behind the day, as well as have some fun learning about Indigenous culture (just ask you child about learning the Metis Jig). I believe that it is important to take the time to learn about our nation's past, so that we can develop empathy and compassion to heal broken relationships in the future.

Donalda School Awards Night - Thursday, October 24th
I want to make everyone aware of changes that are going to be made to this year's awards night. In the past we have recognized each student in our school at Awards Night, but with the introduction of Student of the Week it was felt that each student has already been recognized and celebrated.
This year's Awards Night will be new, as it will honor students who are receiving speciality awards. These students will be mailed an invitiation, and will be asked to respond to the school with how many guests they will be bringing. The evening will begin with a dessert night, followed by the awards program.
Neilson Beef Fundraiser - Due October 4th
We ask our families to help support our Parent Council's Neilson Beef Fundraiser. The proceeds go to our Parent Council that supports the school in a number of ways financially. If you are in need of a form, please contact the school office.
Walking Field Trip Permission Forms
Parents please check your KEV account, as there will be Walking Field Trip Permssion Form there for you to fill our. There are times throughout the year that teachers will want to take their students for a walk off campus, by signing this permssion form this will allow your child to participate. If you are not on KEV, or would prefer a paper copy, please contact the office.
Terry Fox Run & Donalda School Open House - October 10th (Note Change of Date)
Donalda School is proud to take part in this year's Terry Fox Run Campaign on Thursday, October 10th. Our goal is the raise $500 that will go towards cancer research. We want to invite families and friends to join our staff and students for a terrific afternoon. Watch for more details as the day gets closer. Following the run, the school will be having an open house from (3:15 - 4:30 pm). This is a chance for parents to get a tour of the school and meet staff.

Students of the Week
Pierce Bergstrom
Pierce demonstrated generosity and kindness when he shared his prizes from the cross country race. Pierce got two prizes and gave one to a classmate who didn’t get any which speaks volumes about his kind and humble character. He always goes out of his way to make others feel included and welcome, especially with the new students in our class. I am proud of the example you’re setting for others!
Wilson Bakkers
Wilson has such an excellent attitude at school, and works hard on whatever task is at hand. He has demonstrated the ability to work with a variety of peers, and produces fantastic work. His big smile and cheerful approach makes everyone’s day a sunny one.
Ryder Linderman
Ryder was so thoughtful and flexible during social class when I introduced the debate we were starting. He willingly traded places with his classmate when he noticed they were upset about the team they got put on. Recognizing others feelings and putting their needs and wishes above your own demonstrates maturity and consideration. I’m proud of you for being such a supportive friend!
