MASD Community Education program is committed to the unique partnership that exists between our community and school district. We connect citizens and resources, creating lifelong learning opportunities as individuals share their knowledge, skills, and interests with one another.
The district is excited about the opportunities available through community education. Treat yourself! Get out of the house, explore our schools, and learn new skills in a fun, social setting. The program offers a variety of opportunities in a multitude of interest areas. Recreational learning and skill-based ventures are offered in areas ranging from arts & crafts to science, from foods to fitness.
COMMUNITY EDUCATION PUZZLE NIGHT! A Friendly Competition!
FRIDAY, JANUARY 24, 2025
6:00-8:00 pm
Calling all puzzle enthusiasts! Join us for a friendly competition as teams come together to solve and assemble uniquely challenging puzzles for a chance to win prizes. This exciting evening is offered in collaboration with Oddwillow's Game Haven.
Teams in the 16 and Up Division will compete using the same 1000-piece puzzle, and teams in the Family Division will compete using the same 500-piece puzzle. All teams will get to keep their puzzles! The first two teams in each division to complete their puzzle within the allotted time (or closest to completion by number of pieces left) will earn prizes.
Team Division: Two to four people, 16 and up. Please include the number of participants on your team at registration. Teams will have two-hours to complete a piece puzzle.
Family Division - Groups between 2-5 people, teams must contain at least one adult 18 years or older. Children 5 and up. Please note the number of participants on your team at registration. Teams will have an hour (6:00-7:00 pm) to complete a 500 piece puzzle.
This event will also feature a puzzle swap. Bring your new or gently used puzzles to trade with other puzzle lovers! Please check your puzzles before bringing them in to trade, and ensure no pieces are missing. Clear out your old puzzles and trade for something new!
Cost Per Team: $30.00.
Event is being held in the Commons at Mukwonago High School. Limited Seating.

Get Ready for a Sweeter Holiday Season With Christine's Angelic Treats (16+)
Join us for a festive and fun-filled cookie decorating classes where you'll learn to create stunning holiday-themed cookies with Royal Icing. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned decorator, this class has something for everyone.
Each enrollee will receive 6 pre-baked cutout cookies, ready for your creative touch! You’ll be able to practice mixing and coloring your own Royal Icing, learn how to achieve the perfect consistency for decorating, and practice various techniques to make your cookies stand out.
All supplies are included, just bring your creativity and enthusiasm! February's class will be Valentine themed cookies and the March class St. Patty's themed.

Mug meals are a convenient way to prepare a quick, single-serving meal in the microwave using a mug. They can be a good option for people who are short on time, have limited kitchen space, or are cooking for one or two people. Mug meals can also be a healthier alternative to fast food and can be more affordable We will explore single serving meal options that are just what you need. Breakfast, lunch or desserts that can be microwaved right in a cup! Easy and tasty. Real food meals that can help navigate busy schedules. An assortment of recipes like French toast, meatloaf, eggs, brownies, peach cobbler and more will be available. You’ll get to sample several for yourself during this instructor demonstration class. Participants will receive a Mug Meal mix of their choosing to either take home or make in class. (This is not a cooking class. Demonstration only with plenty of dishes to sample.)

Make Your own Household Cleaners (18+)
Many household cleaning products are expensive and some can be harmful to our health and the environment. Class topics will cover some health and safety concerns involving household cleaning products and ways to minimize these concerns. There are non-toxic cleaners that can be made at home that work and, at the same time, save you money. You will have the opportunity to make 2 household cleaners to take home and receive samples for other safe and effective cleaning products. Recipes range from all-purpose cleaners to sanitizing sprays to clothes soap.

Yoga for Working Stiffs (18+)
Feeling tense, tight, and tired from a long day of work? Try Yoga for Working Stiffs. Yoga helps ease the tension in your body and mind. Focusing on tight areas such as shoulders, hips, hamstrings, and lower back, we will let go of the demands of the day and become mindfully present through our yoga practice. Discover the benefits of yoga: increased flexibility, improved balance, and more energy. Beginners welcome. (10% discount offered to continuing yoga participants!)

Understanding the Night Sky-Astronomy Night For Beginners (16+)
Have you ever gazed at the night sky only to wonder what you are looking at from your backyard? Satisfy your wonder by beginning a new hobby in star gazing!
This workshop will guide you on an evening astronomical journey where you will search for the moon, planets, constellations, stars, and other objects. You will learn how to read and celestially navigate the night sky using a star map. You will also learn what is meant by the space time continuum and how it applies to star gazing.
If the weather allows, the class will start outside and move indoors for a session and then back outside for an evening viewing. If the weather does not allow for outdoor viewing the class will be held indoors (Section Elementary-Library) for the entirety of the class. Bring your cell phone, a pair of binoculars, and your sense of wonder and get ready to expand your knowledge of the night sky!

INDOOR WALKING AT MHS!
Every Sunday, Noon-3:00 pm until March 16, 2025, community members are welcome to come and walk the halls of Mukwonago High School where an approx. 1/4 mi. route has been mapped out. Guest are asked to check in at the table when entering through DOOR 4 (front of school -middle set of doors). Children must be accompanied by an adult 18 years or older. No Fee and No Need to Register. Closed on Sunday, Dec. 22 and Sunday, Dec. 29, 2024.
Please be aware there may be other events taking place at MHS on Sundays which may require you to park further from the entrance doors. Our walking guests are asked to enter through door 4 and check-in prior to walking the route.

Imagine yourself teaching a workshop! Through the Community Education program, courses could be offered as evening or weekend workshops or even weekly classes. A compensation model is in place for instructors. We know continued learning for all ages through sharing interests, knowledge and skills adds to quality of life and is extremely important in thriving communities.
