We are so excited to have each of your children here at Nichols Sawmill Elementary School! Our teachers and staff are working hard to make this school year the best it can be. Below, you'll find all the details about our back-to-school events and procedures. Please review them to ensure you’re ready to start this great year!

Students will not receive their teacher name at Meet the Teacher if the Annual Enrollment Verification is not complete.

New Students:

If you are a new student at Magnolia ISD and you already completed the registration process, you do not need to complete this verification.

Returning Students:

For students returning to MISD for the 2024-2025 school year, please log in to the Frontline Parent Portal and complete the process. Visit our website for more information and instructions.

The first day of school is almost here! To make the morning of August 8th smoothly, we encourage you to RSVP if you plan to walk your child in. Click here to RSVP any adult who might be walking your child into the building. Let's ensure a comfortable and exciting start to the school year for everyone!

ALL parents and students must enter through the front of the building and pick up a tag.

Preregistration is open until 9AM on 8/7/24.

Please bring your ID for check in.

If you ordered school supplies through EPI, they will be delivered to your child's classroom by Meet the Teacher!

No school supplies will be available for purchase at NSE.

Drop Off: 7:45 AM - 8:30 AM

• Pull up to the colored cones.
• Please stay in your vehicle during drop off.
  
• ALL students must exit the vehicle on the sidewalk side (passenger side).
• A staff member will open the right passenger door.
• Turn on your blinker when exiting the parking lot.

Pick Up: 3:45 PM - 4:10 PM

• School issued car rider tags must be displayed prominately to pick up your child in the car rider line.
• No Tag? Park and sign student out from front office.
• Pull all the way up to the colored cone. We load 8 students at a time!
• ALL students must load the vehicle on the sidewalk side (passenger side).
• Stay in your vehicle during pick up.
• If you need to buckle your child, continue through the car rider line, then pull into a parking spot.
• Refrain from phone use.
• Turn on your blinker when exiting the parking lot.

Beginning Monday, 8/19, students who have not been picked up by 4:15 PM must be picked up in the back of the school by the cafeteria from an Afterschool Adventures staff member. Click here for more information about the Afterschool Adventures Program.

You can view your child's bus routes through the Versatrans e-Link system. Click here for instructions.

Additionally, you can download the MyStop mobile app which will allow parents to track their student's bus locations and arrival times, as well as receive notifications on delays. Parents can use a mobile device, tablet, or desktop to view this information. You can find the app in the Apple App Store and in the Google Play Store.

Once you download the app, parents will need to select Magnolia ISD. Username is the student ID and the password is the student's birthday with the four-digit year (ex: October 1, 2005 - 10012005). The app will group all of the parent's children together. At the top of the screen next to the student's name is a drop-down arrow that will give a list of all children in that family.

An NSE staff member will be on every bus the first two days of school to ensure all students feel comfortable and understand bus expectations and procedures.

Please be patient and anticipate delays the first few days of school while we ensure all students get home safely!

The Early Morning Care Program will be available for students at each of our elementary and intermediate campuses starting at 6:30 AM on regular school days. Best of all, there will be no cost for this program during the 2024-2025 school year!

Drop Off Times:

• Early Morning Care: 6:30 AM - 7:35 AM
• Car Rider Line: 7:45 AM - 8:30 AM

Students arriving after 7:35 AM must be dropped off in the Car Rider Line and follow the school's traffic pattern.

- Be sure to register using the link below in order for your child to attend.

- Drop off in the back of the building by the cafeteria windows. A staff member will greet your child.

The Adventures After School program offers a fun and educational environment where children feel engaged and have a sense of belonging through adventurous and meaningful activities. This fee-based program operates at each of the Magnolia ISD elementary campuses for students in grades Pre-K through 6.

Free and Reduced Meal Applications are now available and can be completed online! All students who qualify will also receive FREE breakfast! Visit the link to get started. https://nlappscloud.com/ Applications are also available at all campuses and the Child Nutrition department.

Dress Code: Please remember to follow the MISD dresscode which is found in the Student Handbook.

• Hair color: No brightly dyed hair; Natural colors only (red, black, brown, blonde)
• Hairstyle: No mohawks or shaved designs in hair
• Shorts: Shorts should be longer than dropped fingertips.
• Spaghetti straps: Straps on shirts should be at least 3 fingers wide (girls)

Students are encouraged to wear tennis shoes daily for reccesses and PE.

• Students and parents/guardians will sit at a designated location in the hallway, leading to the cafeteria. When weather permits, the tables outside in the courtyard are available for use as well.
• Only students are allowed in the cafeteria, except on designated Spirit Store days.
• You may bring an outside lunch for your child only. You are not permitted to bring food for other students.
• A student may eat lunch with their visiting parent/guardian, but they are not permitted to invite friends to sit with them. This is a special time designated for families.
• 2 adults allowed per lunch visit.
• Students will join their class at the end of lunch. Say goodbye from the designated lunch area.

All food for students must be brought in by a family member. Food delivery services are prohibited.

If your child is absent, please let the school know within five days of your child's absence. You may report your child's absence in several ways:

• Go to nse.magnoliaisd.org to report the absence

• Send a parent or doctor's note with your child when he/she returns to school. (note needs to be dated, child's name, reason for absence, date of absence, parent signature.)

• Email Kim Dujmovich, NSE Registrar, at kdujmovich@magnoliaisd.org (email needs to include your child's name, reason for absence and date of absence.)

Students wishing to celebrate their birthdays here at school with their classmates have 2 options:

(1) Bring treat bags containing trinkets only (no cookies, cakes, etc.) or

(2) Purchase cupcakes/juice boxes from the cafeteria.

Please download, complete, and turn in the form below. Forms must be turned into the cafeteria at least two weeks in advance of the celebration date.
