Principal Dennis McCuistion says, "The Villa Park High School Bronz Honor Roll AP program is a shining example of our commitment to academic achievement and the pursuit of excellence. It equips our students with the skills, knowledge, and confidence they need to excel in higher education and beyond. We are proud to have such a robust and dynamic AP program within our school, and we look forward to seeing the continued success of our students as they embark on their educational journeys."
Class of 2024 Scholars with Distinction
Villa Park High School would like to recognize the following students for being named Scholars with Distinction. This achievement is earned through student performance on California Standardized Testing (SBAC), which takes place during the Spring semester. These 124 students, representing the top 25% of seniors, were able to score "Proficient or Advanced" in both English/Language Arts AND Mathematics. For graduation, these seniors will be given a special cord to distinguish themselves as VPHS Scholars of Distinction. Congratulations to all of you!

2023 Homecoming Court
After a series of nominations and interviews, a Homecoming Court composed of five boys and five girls was selected for the ceremonial position. Members on court are active students here at Villa Park and within their communities, an unofficial prerequisite during the interview process. This week, the students had the opportunity to vote for their homecoming king and queen. Homecoming Queen will be announced at the Homecoming Game on Friday 10/6 and Homecoming King will be announced at the Homecoming Dance on Saturday 10/7.
Students on court:
Homecoming Spirit Week
In celebration of Homecoming, Villa Park ASB initiated the first Spirit Week of the year. Students of all grades participated in fun, spirited opportunities such as playing lunchtime activities and coming to school in themed attire. This week’s spirit calendar:
Monday: Wear pink, "Barbie"-themed attire. That day’s lunchtime activity was music chairs.
Tuesday: Wear minion-themed attire, i.e., overalls, jeans, and anything yellow. That day’s lunchtime activity was guessing how many starbursts are in a jar!
Wednesday: Wear Western-themed clothing—anything that emulates the Wild West! That day’s lunchtime activity was a donut eating contest, not on a table but on a string.
Thursday: Wear beach-themed clothing, the most proper attire for the 95-degree weather that day. Thursday’s lunchtime activity was a water balloon fight.
Friday: In honor of this night’s homecoming game, wear black! There is no lunchtime activity today.
This week’s spirit calendar follows up with this Friday’s Homecoming Assembly. Cheer, dance, and ASB groups choreographed dances alongside the homecoming court to woo their peers.

Mrs. Jessica Kim - Math Teacher
Written by Marianna Mendoza
Mrs. Jessica Kim, a library media specialist at VP, brings a wealth of experience and a diverse academic background to her role. Her journey began at John W. North High School in Riverside, where she actively participated in various extracurricular activities, including dance, yearbook, and theater. After high school, she pursued her undergraduate studies at Cal State Fullerton, majoring in communications with a minor in American Studies. Her thirst for knowledge led her to graduate school, first earning an MFA in creative writing from Spalding University in Louisville, Kentucky, and later a Masters of Library Information Sciences (MLIS) from San Jose State. During her college years, she was also a member of a sorority, fostering lasting connections. Mrs. Kim dedicated 18 years to the school district, teaching English at Canyon High School, Cerro Villa Middle School, and El Modena High School. Her journey at VP began in January 2020, and she currently holds the position of Library Media Specialist. Notably, Mrs. Kim is a published author with three YA books to her name, and her favorite memory at VP revolves around the vibrant atmosphere of last year's author festival. With her unique blend of literary expertise and educational background, Mrs. Kim is a valued member of the VP community.
Mrs. Jacqueline Morris
Written by: Marianna Mendoza
Meet Mrs. Jacqueline Morris, a dedicated Library Media Technician at VP High School. Jacqueline's journey began at Canyon High School in Anaheim, CA, where she was not only an avid student but also demonstrated her leadership as the cheer captain. Following her high school days, she pursued higher education, initially enrolling at Santiago Community College (SCC) before finding her academic home at Concordia University in Irvine, where she majored in Organizational Psychology. While her college years were focused on academics, Mrs. Morris honed her skills in the field by working at various schools within the Orange Unified School District (OUSD), ultimately accumulating over a decade of experience before joining VP in 2021. Her official title as Library Media Technician doesn't fully encapsulate her enthusiasm for her role, as her favorite memory at VP includes the satisfying task of reorganizing the school's library. And if you ever need an interesting conversation starter, Mrs, Morris can share the intriguing fact that she can dislocate her shoulder.
