Monthly Attendance Reminder
Absences Add Up
Cold and flu season can be challenging. Here are some guidelines from Attendance Works for parents about when to send students to school and when to keep them home.
Send to school if:
- Student has a runny nose or just a little cough, but no other symptoms
- Student hasn’t taken any fever reducing medicine for 24 hours and hasn’t had a fever during that time
- Student hasn’t thrown up or had any diarrhea for 24 hours
Keep student at home if:
- Student has a temperature higher than 100 degrees even after taking medicine
- Student is throwing up or has diarrhea
- Student’s eyes are pink and crusty
Call the doctor if:
- Student has a temperature higher than 100 degrees for more than two days
- Student has been throwing up or has had diarrhea for more than two days

Superintendent's Message
Message from Leslie Rames
It is that time of year where families are holiday decorating and thinking about holiday plans. Many of our evenings and weekends will be spent getting ready for holiday celebrations. While visions of sugar plums, reindeer, and peppermint mocha may arise at times, here at Castle Rock our students still continue to have math facts, essays, favorite books, and science experiments dancing through their heads. It is easy to loose focus at this time of year, please help us encourage our students to stay as focused as possible.
One of the district's goals this year is to support families in how to become more involved with our school and how to support their students at home. I would like to encourage all of our families to join us for two amazing family engagement events this December. Our Cookies with Santa Family Event on Wednesday, December 18th and our "The Littlest Christmas Tree" Performance on Thursday, December 19th. Please see the flyers at the top of the newsletter for more detailed information regarding these events.
I wish you all a wonderful winter break and Happy Holidays! Enjoy family time over the holidays. Take time to snuggle up and read together, play board games, drink hot chocolate, build a snowman, and just be together!
