Kohler Elementary's Bomber Blast
Schneider's Monthly Newsletter February, 2025
Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Chilly, cold February seems to be back and sticking around. But, whether indoor or outdoor recess, it doesn't stop us! Some exciting things to share actually started at the end of January; we began the Great Kindness Challenge sponsored by Ms. Swanson and her PBIS team as well as the 4th/5th grade Leadership Student Crew. With a checklist of numerous ideas, students challenged themselves each and every day to let kindness drive their day. We want to act, recognize and inspire great acts of kindness to change the world! Think about the possible ripple effect of our small acts kindnesses. The 3rd grader in the picture above understands kindness as she used her very own bomber bucks for a special lunch with the principal. Bomber bucks are given when we do awesome, kind things each and every day. Students then can purchase various fun small toys or small experiences for those Bucks. Our school will soon enjoy a celebratory movie and PJ day as a school reward also. We love PBIS!
In February there will be some great fun events coming up such as 4K-1st graders celebrating 100th day of school by doing many activities with that as the central theme. As you know, Parent/Teacher Conferences will be on February 11th and 13th. Teachers' schedules just opened up on the 4th for you to schedule times to meet regarding your child/ren. February 14th is a professional development day for teachers, and therefore, there is NO school that day. Lots of great "heart" is shining through at Kohler Elementary - thanks for all you do to support that.
Gentle Reminders for Drop off and Pick up:
- 7:40 AM Playground supervision begins. The parking lot is busy-please drive cautiously and with patience.
- During morning drop off, please remind your elementary students they must go to the playground area where they will line up to enter school. They may not enter through the front doors (unless they arrive after 8:00 in which case, they'd get a tardy slip at the front office)
- Please adhere to village ordinance for parking or waiting on Church and School Streets during after school pick up. We encourage use of the pick up and drop off lines through our school parking lot.

Testing to Show What We Know....
Round 2 (winter session) of AimsWebPlus, an early literacy screener, has finished for Reading as did further diagnostics if necessary. Individual Reading Plans also went home if scores were lower than the 25%, but rest assured we will work tirelessly to partner with you to gain the skills needed for reading. You may've already received the scores and plan, and you surely can discuss these further with the classroom teacher at conferences.
Parent Teacher Conferences: February 11th and 13th π
Our upcoming conferences will be February 11th and 13th!
Teachers' schedules will be available for you to register for conferences as of Feb. 4th. π
**During Parent Teacher Conferences Ms. DeGroff and Mrs. Multer will be hosting brief information sessions for parents to learn about Xello Family in the library. Drop into the Library between 3:30 and 5:30 PM to learn how to activate your account and view your childβs work in future readiness. Guardians of 2nd - 5th graders will receive an email from Xello with a link to activate their account. Xello is a great tool for parents/guardians to use to prompt discussions and support studentsβ future goals and plans.
Kohler Public Libary staff will be hosting a make-and-take Valentines' craft for students at this time so that parents/guardians can drop in to learn more about Xello and Xello Family.
Our Learning Never Ends......
2nd grader started their Academic and Career Planning Unit with Miss DeGroff and Mrs. Multer using the tool Xello.
Please complete this form @ bit.ly/47Ma5HL if you would be interested in having Blue come home with your student so that you can discuss the career of an adult family member and submit pictures of Blue visiting that family member's place of employment.
