Culinary purchased an attachment for their KitchenAid to make homemade pasta. The class put it to use for the first time last week, and had fun making fettuccini noodles.

On Thursday, Recruit HIPPO brought a semi truck simulator to campus. Students were able to get hands on experience on what driving a semi truck would be like. This was a really neat and exciting experience for our students.

Juniors, mark your calendars--the SAT test date is set for April 11th. If you are interested in taking the SAT please see Mrs. Wright to sign up or you can send her an email: cwright@bandon.k12.or.us Deadline to sign up for the SAT is February 28th.

Spring sports practice starts on Monday, February 26th. Student athletes please make sure you are signed up on FamilyID and have a current OSAA sports physical on file with the office.

Girls' golf practice will start on Monday, February 26th from 3:45 PM- 4:45 PM at the Sheep Ranch, bring clubs and dress in appropriate attire.

Boys' golf practice will start on Monday, February 26th from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM at the Practice Center. Bring clubs and dress in appropriate attire.

Juniors- Applications for the 2024 Cranberry Court are available at the office.

Yearbook pre-orders are available at the office window for $30.00.

Please join us for an evening of musical talent showcased by our 5th though 12th grade band students on March 7th, starting at 6:30 PM. The middle school band will perform first, while the high school band will follow starting approximately at 7:30 PM. This is a free event for all to attend.

Ms. Pearson took ten speech students to compete against several other schools in Southern Oregon this last weekend.

The class of 2028 parent group has organized a can and bottle drive to help fund the 8th grade promotion party.

All of our students should have signed a behavior agreement form that acknowledges that they have reviewed the student handbook, and know what the behavior expectations are at HLMS. We would appreciate it if you could take a moment to review the student hand book (link below) as well.

Just a reminder, students are not allowed to have cell phones out during school hours. We require them to be kept off and in their locker or backpack during the day. This includes breaks and at lunch. Please encourage your student to come to the office or their teachers if they have a concern or need help instead of reaching out to you via cell phone during the day. This way we can help make sure that all your student's needs are being met. We have a student phone available in the commons that is always available.

Valley Flora wanted to alert you to a few new programs that we - and other NW farms - are spearheading in in order to make fresh, local produce more accessible to low income families in our community. We’re trying to get the word out as widely as possible. If you have a spot to hang a poster (attached below), or room for a mention in your next newsletter, that would be wonderful! We are happy to provide you with a color-printed poster, just let us know! • Double Up Food Bucks (DUFB): a program that helps low-income Oregonians purchase more fruits and vegetables while supporting local, family farms. Folks with SNAP benefits can purchase one of our farm’s community supported agriculture (CSA) shares and DUFB will provide 1:1 matching funds (they pay half the cost of the CSA with SNAP and DUFB covers the other half). It's a win-win that strengthens our community by providing better access to fresh, healthy food while helping local farmers earn a living.
