A Message From Mr. Higham, Lead Administrator CELC
Dear Parents and Families,
As CELC’s lead administrator, I want to take a moment to share with you my vision for our students and the work we are doing to ensure their success. Throughout my career, I have been deeply committed to enhancing student achievement, fostering a culture of excellence, and working closely with all school community members to support every child’s growth. My leadership approach is both forward-thinking and student-centered, always focused on creating positive, engaging learning environments where all students can thrive.
I truly believe in the transformative power of education; not just to help students achieve academically, but to empower them to become responsible, compassionate, and contributing members of society. In my experience, when we provide students with the right tools, resources, and opportunities, they can achieve great things. This is a belief I carry with me every day as I work alongside our teachers, staff, and community members to ensure that all students have the chance to reach their fullest potential.
In my time as an educator and administrator, I have had the privilege of serving in a variety of leadership roles, each of which has allowed me to develop and implement instructional programs that directly impact student success. I’ve always prioritized fostering high-quality instruction, building a positive school culture, and ensuring that every student has the support they need to succeed. Whether through curriculum development, strategic reforms, or professional development, my focus is on creating the kind of school environment where all students feel challenged, engaged, and supported.
Above all, I am driven by a deep belief in the potential of every child. I am committed to working with you to ensure that we are providing the best possible educational experience for your child; one that challenges them, supports their individual growth, and prepares them for success in the future. Together, we can continue to build an environment that empowers our students to succeed, both academically and personally.
Thank you for your continued partnership in making our school a place of excellence.
Sincerely,
Douglas Higham
Lead Administrator
Matching Coats Today 💙
Important Please Read: Winter Clothing
As we transition into cooler weather, please take a moment to check your child's extra clothes in their book bag to ensure they are appropriate for the upcoming colder temperatures. With winter fast approaching, it's a good idea to make sure they have warm options, such as sweaters, jackets, and pants, ready to go.
Starting November 25, we will be encouraging students to bring their winter clothing to school, including hats, gloves, boots, snowpants, and other warm layers. In preparation for winter recess, we will also be practicing how to put on and take off these items in the correct order—starting with pants, followed by hats, gloves, and boots. This practice will help the children become more independent and confident when it's time to get dressed for outdoor play during the colder months.
Thank you for your support as we help the children navigate this seasonal change!
Doctor's Note When Out Sick
Please note that if your child is out sick for 3 consecutive days, he/she will need a doctor's note to return to school, after the 3rd day of being absent.

UPDATED: Birthday Treats
We know that birthdays are a momentous and special occasion in your child’s life. If your child would like to bring in an item to celebrate this very special occasion, one small, non-edible item (ex: pencil, sticker, etc) is allowed to be brought in. Items will be sent home with students at the end of the day. Only one item should be sent in. No gift bags please.
Invitations to home parties may not be distributed at school or on the bus unless the entire class is invited. The office is not able to furnish parents with phone numbers and addresses of students for invitations.

Health Screenings
Why are health screenings important to my child?
Health screenings give you valuable information about your child’s development.
You will become connected with resources to help prepare your child for success in school.
Screening will help identify any hearing, vision, health, growth, or general development needs your child may have. *
For many children, screenings can mean the difference between success and failure in school. If potential problems are detected at any of the screened areas, the child then has the opportunity to receive specialized help before entering kindergarten.
If you do not have concerns about your child’s health, growth, or development, your school district will still need your child’s screening information and immunization information on file at school.
