Maori Whakatauki - Macleans Primary Value: Resilience
Whaia te iti kahurangi ki te tuohu koe he maunga teitei: Seek the treasure you value most dearly; if you bow your head let it be before a lofty mountain.
This whakatauki is about aiming high or for what is truly valuable, but its real message is to be persistent and do not let obstacles stop you reaching your goals

Macleans Primary School Community
Hello Everyone
Great to see many families at the Family Picnic/Meet The Teacher the other week and at the Lunar New Year morning tea. It is always good to see mums, dads, grandparents, friends and family visiting the school during events. Please remember that our 'doors are always open' so pop in anytime for a chat or quick catch-up with your child's teacher before or after school. Of course, if you need to a longer time with your child' s teacher please make an appointment. Macleans Primary values the home-school partnership that we endeavour to foster with all families and thank you for your part that you and your child (ren) play in the home-school partnership:)))
Please check your child's bag TOMORROW as we are sending home hard copies of the 2024 Annual Plan, Macleans Learner and the Macleans Primary Local Curriculum. The 2024 Annual plan features below, as does the Macleans Primary local Curriculum. The Macleans Learner Values is in every newsletter, first and foremost at the top of the newsletter!
As we move into the term, there are a few events for mums and dads to be aware of: junior breakfast (held today), camp meetings for Y5 & Y6, pubertal change evening info. session for parents of Y6 children, books and learning pathways sent home last week of term, and our Maori family community hui. More information on these events are in this newsletter and will be shared in future communication. Please note that the 1st parent-teacher conferences will be held in the first half of term two; of course, contact your child's teacher should you wish to talk before then.
A reminder to all parents that kindo and school docs are two important administration tools that Macleans Primary uses. if you are not familiar with kindo and school docs please read more below about Kindo (online portal for all things Macleans Primary) and school docs, a site for all of Macleans Primary's polices and procedures.
A final reminder that Macleans Primary School does not request school donations. All trips, excursions, text books (not stationery), health programmes and curriculum based programmes are funded by the school. We do request payment, however, for the current Y4-Y6 Education Outside the Classroom programme and the 'essential stationery' that is provided to children as the year progresses. Payments can be made through kindo or into the school bank account number. Details will be on kindo. See below for more information on kindo if you are not kindo registered.
Thanks everyone and have a great week. Enjoy the newsletter :)

Are you on Kindo yet?
Macleans Primary's online Kindo school shop now links to our school records, and we’ve noticed that you have students that are not yet linked. This could be because you have not yet set up your myKindo account OR. you have a myKindo account already, but are using a different email address to log in, than the one the school has on file for you.
Don’t yet have a myKindo account? You can easily register – it only takes a couple of minutes!
• Enter in the email address the school has on file for you.
• Check your inbox for an email from Kindo with a link to set-up your password.
Your myKindo account is now set-up! Already have a myKindo or ezlunch account?
Log in to your account and click on the ‘Fees and Donations’ service. If you see a message similar to this one, you need to link your student.
If you need to update your email address, you can either change your login email on Kindo to match the school email address using the ‘my details’ page OR give the school a call and update your school email address to match your myKindo login one.
(NOTE: school updates happen every night for the transfer over to Kindo, so please allow at least one day before checking again).
Once your myKindo account is set-up and your students linked, you will be able to:
- see any outstanding payments on your personalised family account.
- choose to make a part payment or full payment.
- and we’ll amend your child’s class automatically when our school records are updated.

Measles Updates From Auckland Regional Health
Measles cases are expected in Tāmaki Makaurau this year, which could result in an outbreak across the region. Please check your child has had two MMR (measles, mumps. and rubella) vaccinations. Whānau can ask their doctor or practice nurse or check children’s Well Child. Tamariki Ora books. MMR vaccinations are free from GPs or some pharmacies. ELS and primary schools should keep their immunisation registers up to date. If there is a measles case at school or an ELS, then children exposed to the virus and who are not immune are at high risk of developing measles. They will have to stay home in quarantine. Measles is serious, especially for young children, and can have ongoing effects on immunity from other illnesses. Staff without evidence of immunity or two MMR vaccinations will also be excluded from school or ELS if exposed to the virus, so ask staff to check they have documented proof of immunity. If not, they can get vaccinated for free and it’s safe even if you have been vaccinated before.
Can you please let the Office Team Sharon Waller or Sally Jarvis know of any updates to your child's vaccination status please. Call them on (09) 534-5191 or email s.waller@macleansprimary.school.nz, s.jarvis@macleansprimary.school.nz.
