Rite of Acceptance
What is the Rite of Acceptance?
The Rite of Acceptance is a welcoming ceremony in the Catholic Church - think of it as the first public "milestone" for someone who wants to become Catholic.
*It's when someone who has been learning about the faith (called an inquirer) officially becomes known as a "catechumen" - basically moving from just exploring to seriously preparing to join the Church.
*During this simple but meaningful ceremony, the inquirers publicly express their desire to follow Christ and join the Catholic Church. The Church, represented by the priest and congregation, accepts them with open arms. The soon-to-be catechumens often receive special blessings, and sometimes they're marked with the sign of the cross to symbolize that they're beginning their Christian journey.
*After this rite, these new catechumens continue learning about the faith through a process called OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults), eventually leading to baptism, usually at Easter.
Rite of Acceptance
We joyfully invite you to join us for a special celebration in our faith journey – the Rite of Acceptance into the Order of Catechumens.
The Rite of Acceptance is a significant milestone for those seeking to join our Catholic family. During this ceremony, our candidates will publicly declare their intention to continue their journey toward full communion with the Catholic Church. This is the first public ritual for those who have been preparing through our OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults/Children) program.
Your presence and prayers would mean so much to our candidates as they take this important step in their faith journey. As a parish community, we have the privilege of witnessing their commitment and welcoming them with open arms.
