Think Pink!
Friday, October 25th marked the annual Ambassador Club Pink Spirit Day, and the participation was incredible!
Each October the Ambassador Club plans and organizes this spirit day to bring awareness to Breast Cancer and to collect donations in support of the Ellie Fund, provides essential support services for breast cancer patients to ease the stresses of everyday life, allowing the focus to be on family, recovery and healing.
This year we were able to collect over $2,200.00 for this very worthwhile organization.
Thank you to the entire HMS community!
HMS Candy Collection
Please drop off your excess Halloween candy to the boxes in the lobby of Hingham Middle School from after Halloween until Thursday, November 7. The candy will be shipped to deployed soldiers from Hingham as well as delivered to local veterans.
HMS is Here to Help
We understand that making ends meet can be difficult for some families in our HPS community. Therefore, we want to let you know that there are individuals in each of our schools who are ready to provide information and assistance. Resources may be available to help families in times of financial need or other challenging situations. Our particular area of outreach is for food support for the upcoming holidays.
Please don’t hesitate to contact an administrator, the school nurse, or counseling personnel at your child's school if you are in need of food support for the holidays. Rest assured that your request will be managed in a way that respects your rights to confidentiality.
Remembering Luke - The Spirit of Children Fund
As a way to honor and remember our classmate Luke Jagielski, this Halloween season Hingham Middle School is inviting students and families to join us in making a donation to the Spirit of Children Fund, which is dedicated to making hospital stays for children a little less “scary”, bringing the fun of Halloween to children during hospital stays. Luke loved Halloween, and we would like to help spread his love for the holiday through support of this charitable organization. We are also inviting people to wear Luke's favorite color, purple, on Halloween.
Donations will be collected during homeroom beginning on Monday and ending on Thursday, October 31.
Thank you for your support.
Eighth graders are taking advantage of the beautiful fall weather and putting the final touches on their sheet metal tool boxes. We're sure you'll agree; they look great!
Private School Application Process
If your child plans to apply to a private school, please note that our school counselors require advance notice to handle these requests. To provide sufficient time to organize student records, gather teacher feedback, and provide thoughtful recommendations, we kindly request that you submit the required paperwork at least 15 school days before the earliest application deadline.
Additional information can be found on the HMS website: Private School Application Process
What's In a Name?
Recently grade eight students composed poems about their names as a way to reflect on and connect with the theme of "identity" from the novel Code Talker. Check out these examples of the excellent work done by our students.

Health Class
In health class this week, students have been discussing the warning signs and common causes of anxiety and depression. We also discussed suicide awareness, resources available, and how to support people who are struggling.
Just because someone isn't showing signs of depression, the most important thing we can do at school (and at home) is continue talking about it, supporting one another, identify the red flags, and be aware of the resources that are available to us.
