BSC Weekly Newsletter
Week of December 9
From the BSC President
It's hard to believe we've reached the end of 2024 already. Looking back, it has been a wonderfully successful year for our Balboa Family. We've supported our teachers in the classroom and funded an amazing enrichment program. We've helped our kids on the playground at psychomotor and chaperoned countless field trips. We've hosted fun community events and have shown our teachers all the love they deserve. The results speak for themselves; not just in iReady results or US News rankings (all of which are amazing) but in the smiles on our kids' faces and the passion they show for learning at Balboa.
My thanks to all of the teachers, staff, parents, our amazing volunteers, and especially our scholars, for putting in the time, effort, and hard work, to make Balboa the special place that it is. It has truly been an amazing year so far and as we look forward to 2025, I know it will only get even better.
I hope you get to pause and enjoy the Winter Break and holiday season. Enjoy the loving company of your family and appreciate all we have to be grateful for.
I'll see you in 2025!
Warmly,
Steven
Spirit Day Friday, December 13th: Ugly Holiday Sweater Day!
DROP OFF EVENT - K.I.D.S. CREW
Signup at the Winter Holiday Program!
Need a little time off as winter break begins? Drop your scholar off at K.I.D.S. CREW for an evening of games, activities, and crafts with their friends. Let the team at KIDS CREW take care of the kids while you get a few hours to yourself. A portion of the proceeds from this event will be donated to the BSC. Email registration@kids-crew.org to register!
Thank you Councilman John Lee
For the 3rd year in a row, we will be participating in his Making Movies That Matter program; a unique opportunity for our 5th graders to create their own short film about an important topic of their choice. Last year he provided funding to support our Gardening and Science Lab programs. Just last week, he arranged for the installation of speed humps on Paso Robles to improve safety during our busy dropoff and pickup times. Be sure to contact his City District 12 office should you need any support.
Thank you Councilman Lee!
Traffic Safety
As mentioned above, speed humps have been installed on Paso Robles Avenue to ensure the safety of all of our families. A reminder to please slow down and pay attention when driving around Balboa. Use the crosswalks when walking, do not make a u-turn or double park, and please DO NOT block our neighbors' driveways.
If you are able to help out for an hour or more this week, we would love to have a few extra hands supporting our Spiritwear Store during the Holiday Shows. We will also be celebrating our teachers on Friday and would appreciate some extra help during our Teacher and Staff Holiday Luncheon.
Please signup for one or more slots here. THANK YOU!
