Attendance Matters
Making it to school on time matters! GTE's school day starts at 8:20 AM. Announcements begin promptly at 8:20 AM and the teachers jump right into learning. Chronically tardy students are more likely to score lower on assessments and experience difficulties with social and emotional development. If your child is just a few minutes late, it can disrupt his or her entire day. We have noticed an increase in our tardies this school year:
- September- 321 tardies
- October- 347 tardies
- November-294 tardies
- December- 263 tardies
*16-17 average tardies per day
What can you do to help your child get to school on time?
- Establish morning routines
- Get enough sleep
- Prepare the night before (pack lunch and backpack)
*If you need additional support with getting to school on time, please see your child's counselor.
Inclement Weather Reminders
As colder weather is now upon us, please remember that we will follow WSD weather guidelines regarding outdoor recess. If the windchill is 15 degrees or above, we will be outside for at least 10 minutes. Please dress your child appropriately for the winter. For more detailed WSD guidelines, click here.
WSD Opt-Out Information
Throughout the duration of the academic year, the Wentzville School District partners with community agencies that specialize in providing students, families, and educators with preventative education. Agency presenters are credentialed, coordinated through the District, and under the supervision of building administrators. Presentation topics are targeted toward specific grade levels. All students will participate in each program unless you choose to opt your child out of the lesson(s). If you are interested in opting your student(s) out of the presentation(s), please click the appropriate link(s) below.
If you have additional questions, please reach out directly to your student’s guidance counselor.
Become a School Lunch Hero
Our School Lunch Hero program aims to ensure no child leaves the cafeteria hungry. Donate to our Lunch Hero program to help WSD families struggling to keep up with paying for school breakfast and lunch. Read more and make a donation.
